Reading through the models and seeing that the manual option only comes on the 4-cylinder. Not going to lie, pretty bummed about that...

I think it is a big letdown as well. They develop this awesome MT, and aren’t going to pair it with both?! I wonder if it has something to do with emissions or something?

Yup, bummed too. But oh well, still going to get the MT. Just have to deal with the 2.3L. Thankfully it seems like a pretty capable little engine.

Maybe by the midlife update or even 2nd gen, they'll offer the MT with all engines which hopefully includes the 3L Powerstroke.

It is such a hard choice. The awesome feeling of a manual or more power?

Does seem like an oversight, but the 4-banger seems like it has plenty of power. My old JK Manual had 200ish hp and did the job.

But there is hope since Ford seem to be keen on taking the enthusiast away form FCA so if we demand it after gen1, I’m sure they will add it. Look how long it took FCA to add a diesel option after years of enthusiasts clamoring for one.

i felt the exact same way seeing my puppy run over in the street when i was a kid. ive been depressed all morning. Weak 4 banger and towing of only 3500#. Im anxious to see what the 3rd party aftermarket builders are going to offer. If maybe cancelling on the badlands 2 door to get the base 28k 2 door with the v6 and paying hennessey to put a manual on it and everything else

Well the 4 banger isn’t exactly weak. Same as they are easily tuning in the Rangers for an extra 50hp. And 3500# is the same for the wrangler no?

But ya, base + mods seems the way to go.

While I love the new bronco. I have to admit I think ford missed the mark on the manual. All that development cost and for it not to withstand the torque of the 2.7T. the Jeep offers a manual with it's 6 cylinder.

Regarding the 6 cylinder manual swap.
Cant wait to see where the aftermarket goes, it won't be long and there will be upgrade kits for the manual trans, stronger gears, forks, Tob, etc.

I'm thinking base 2 Dr manual then time for a coyote. :) If a fully loaded first edition is 30k more than the base, that amount should be close to covering the swap plus mods. The trans being built to handle the power is a huge question mark though. Fun times ahead.

those numbers they posted for the 2.3 are peak values. You gotta look at the area below the curve (dyno tuning) for acceleration. 3,500 is pretty low for the 2.7 v6. im sure they will update it to 5k closer to launch.

if you do that, get a coyote crate, then youll need to swap the transmission too. And do a whole lot more to fit that beast in there. Itll be much cheaper to figure out how to get a 3.5 in there with the current auto transmission.

im still sad. About the restrictions on the manual and my puppy

Not if the aftermarket can build up the current manual offered in the four cylinder model. The MT550 manual can safely handle 406 ft lbs. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ca...2/2021-ford-bronco-manual-transmission-specs/

A crate coyote makes 420 ft lbs on 93 octane. If you were to tune it for 87 it would make less. It would not take much to build the trans to handle the coyote. Depending on the state of tune, the stock trans may handle the coyote, it is not If you would be launching the new bronco to rip some 1320s. So drive line shock would not be as abusive. I am sure we will see coyote swapped broncos less than a few months after the first is sold. I really expect the after market to go bonkers on this one.

Of course the 2.7 is better, but the 2.3 is no slouch. Maybe ford know that people gonna tune the 2.7 which can get near 400hp and they don’t want to abuse the manual with that in their entry year.

the 2.7 is already detuned from what’s in the f150.
