Class II Hitch on Bronco.

This morning I noticed the “Towing” section within the “Specification” category for the Bronco Badlands description. It states the tow package will come with a Class II hitch. I do not remember seeing that last time I looked. Interesting! (I attached an article which clarified Class II hitch.)

Still wish it was a class III with a 5,000 lb capacity!

Keep in mind we do not know much yet about the Bronco towing package. Most class II hitches do not have a 2” receiver and some are attached to the bumper not the frame. We do know there is no brake controller. I suspect if you plan to carry a couple bicycles you should have no problems.

Oh I will be having bikes on the back, and pretty much any vehicle these days can do that (heck my focus could as well). Just wish the bronco had a higher rating considering it is based off the Ford Ranger platform. That can tow 7,500, heck even the bumper can tow 3,500 which is why I am disappointed the tow rating of the bronco is so low (I understand it has a softer suspension, but why a lower grade hitch?). Attached is info from Ford on the ranger tow information.

Yep it has to do with the suspension. Same reason the wrangler can only tow 3000lbs and the gladiator can tow 7500 lbs. in trucks you usually get better tow rating if you go 4x4 because they put stiffer suspension. However, on these Off-road vehicles they want as much wheel travel as they can get so your tow rating suffers.

I hope there will be a class III option, otherwise it may be a deal breaker for me. This is a big reason I never gave up my truck for a Wrangler.

I know. I may need to hold out until the bronco pickup comes out and hope the tow rating goes up - but I really really prefer an SUV

This is also something I have a bit of an issue with as I do most of the renovations on my home and need to be able to tow larger objects that may go over the 3500 limit. I don’t really want a truck and I really want the Bronco. I may though deal with it for a few years until the Bronco truck comes out and then get the truck. We shall see.

2” receiver is necessary for many bike carriers and other light duty hitch mounted accessories. Less than 2” receiver leaves all my toys at home.

It’s a 2 inch hitch. Just a 2 inch hitch that can’t tow.

Longer wheel base, heavier springs, bigger brakes on the 150. With heavy springs for towing you lose articulation for offroad.

Just gonna have to get a different travel trailer if I am going to stick with the Bronco. The R-Pods seem to have a dry weight of around 3K and tongue weights just under the 350 lb threshold.

Cool. Forest River is only about 40 minutes from me. That's a decent sized trailer for being close to 3K pounds.

That is a nice trailer, even has a slide and under 3K lbs. Just be careful because the GVWR of that trailer is 3814 lbs, that’s trailer dry weight plus cargo weight. You just have to watch how much you load this thing up with you only have about 500lbs to play with. I might be able to keep it under 500 no problem but my wife will load that sucker up to the limit. If there is a space to put something she will put something there.

I know. It’s right on the border but there are some other floor plans that are less so it’s possible. I won’t travel with any water. Just wish it was a higher tow by a tad.

If that's the case, then it seems very silly on Fords part not to offer a tow oriented package with stiffer suspension. We have a Sasquatch and a warthog... may as well have a packmule too
