Anyone thinking about waiting a few years before buying for Ford to get the bugs out?

I read all the comments about what people want, V6 with manual, V8 etc. Do any of you guys think maybe you should wait until the Bronco is out a few years to see the reviews and reliability? I'm sure the 2024 Bronco or lat

Would it be the smart thing to do? Yes, without a doubt IMHO. The Bronco will probably be better and be had for cheaper (better deals or used) in a few years. That goes without saying but there is no way I'm waiting. I've planned for this purchase for several years, the money is lining up as anticipated and I'm not getting any younger. :geek:

I don't care what anyone says. There will be bugs. Every launch vehicle has them. That's why I'm glad my original plan was wait unit late 2022 or early to mid 2023. That way I will be able to see long term feedback from real world users. And with waiting maybe just maybe there will be some new color choices and one will speak to me.

I think if you wait all your missing is two years of fun driving the bronco. I think being built on the ranger platform most bugs have been worked out. That being said. This is a very important launch for Ford. The Bronco has been tested and tested and tested again!! It is going to put smiles on all our faces:giggle: that we'll take to our graves.

I am actually leaning towards waiting. Not that I want a raptor, but it goes to show that Ford is eyeing different models and tweaking what is already shown. I love the Bronco and have talked about it literally everyday for at least a year to my wife. My expedition is gonna hold out long enough before I get one, and I am curious to see A) if there is a white top option and B) what the pickup looks like (since the current model is low on the tow numbers). Still going to get one regardless, but just wanted something capable of pulling an a frame camper @ 3,500 GVWR at the very least and this thing is pressing the numbers. Also want to ensure any quality issues are fully worked out.

With that being said, this launch is extremely important for Ford and I do think they will have their homework done. Am I going to have Bonco envy for 1-2 years before I get one? Oh heck ya! Current model I am looking at is a Badlands 4 door, hard top with the larger engine and just the 33's. I also want to see this vehicle in person before deciding to make a purchase too as I am interested in the Outerbanks as well.

I can't wait any longer, been waiting too long, also time to get a new vehicle or invest in my current. Also no guarentee that this model will be around in a few years, I think it still will be, but you never know. If they come out with something better that I want I can always cut my losses and trade in. But I don't see it getting better for me than a Badlands w/Sasquatch.

Considering Ford is making the brand of "Bronco" I imagine the Bronco, Bronco Sport, Bronco Pickup and Raptor equivalent to continue on for at least another generation easy. Especially with the way PHEV are going and hybrids, they will be able to achieve the emissions needed to continue selling large offroaders. I think it will be like the mustang revamp in 2005 when it was remodeled to match the older generation, this bronco will continue on and now the next generation will have a slightly more modern look as time goes on (granted the next gen is probably 6+ years out!).

I will say, my plan is when I do buy this Bronco to pretty much keep it for life. I have never had a "classic or toy" car and will probably retire this thing around 80-90K miles for light duty camping trips, mountain biking drives to the trailhead, and sunny days accumulating maybe 1-2K miles per year. Not sure how that is going to go over for my wife...

Judging by the TV ads I'm seeing, promoting other off-road vehicles, I'm assuming the Broncos will generate a new wave of off-road "adventure" vehicles / packages in the next 24-48 months. It's kind of entertaining to see many of so-called soccer mom / dad SUV's suddenly being promoted as "off-road" when they don't have a fraction of Bronco off-road capabilities. Maybe other manufacturers will finally fix the power, height, handling and headlamp bugs keeping vehicles like the Tacoma, Rav-4, Telluride and 4Runner from being serious contenders.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Chevy come to the game with a new entry to compete with the Bronco. They screwed the pooch with the Blazer nameplate. So maybe they will come back with a true Blazer replacement and just call it the K5. Or maybe GM will bring back the Jimmy. I've also seen buzz that Toyota may give another go at the FJ. The auto world is watching for sure.

Yes, this trend has continued for far too long IMO. I highly dislike crossovers (I do own a Ford Edge so take that for what it's worth...) but I feel that vehicles that need space either need to be a wagon (which I LOVE) or a utilitarian SUV. I do a ton of camping and two tracking and feel that the Bronco will be perfect for this type of travel. City travel, etc. will be limited to whatever our second vehicle is which will likely get better gas mileage and be easier to park in downtown environments. Now, suddenly everyone wants to be in the "outdoorsy" category and vehicles have faux skid plates, body cladding as all part of the "off road package."

For any of you that do outdoor sports, within the last 1-4 years you must have seen an increase in usage. I regularly mountain bike and hike, and these sports have exploded over the recent years with people all of a sudden thinking its cool to be outside. I guess I can't complain as I support this, just wanted some recognition at the trailhead as being one of the OG's ha. I believe the same thing is happening the car market. Now people want an SUV to do SUV'y things. It all comes back full circle...

Sorry if this is depressing, but the choice to wait and wish and hope for better iterations in the future, assumes guaranteed tomorrows. In a way, many of us have been waiting over a decade already, since the first glimmer of hope that the Bronco could return. I have never purchased a brand new vehicle off the lot. I always subscribed to letting someone else take the initial hit, then buy used. And then there's the obvious concerns with first model year issues, and not wanting to take the risk. But my life and ways of thinking changed when I lost my beloved GF of 23 years this past December - she was only 51. It's difficult to lay out incredibly detailed plans and challenge yourself to wait for ANYTHING, after mortality steps up to you, punches you in the face and rips your heart out. So for me, it's already been tough waiting since July reservation to maybe October B&P. Then the wait until December to order, and surely wait until late spring into summer for units to arrive, if we're lucky. I figure we're all on borrowed time as it is, and most of us will have been waiting about a year after reservations - so no, if I do this I'm not waiting a few more years. I'll get it color wrapped to my liking, and keep my dealership on speed dial during the warranty period.

Yes, waiting for the "next best / better thing" is a high risk game, measured in years, not months. I've been waiting for a new Xterra since they were discontinued in 2015. Now I have 130k miles on my 2013 and it's game time for a new (updated) vehicle. There are rumors Nissan will release a new one in 2022 based on the updated Frontier frame, but I'm not waiting another 2-3 years.

I’m sorry for your loss! My mom passed away suddenly in March (completely unexpected), and my dad has been fighting cancer for almost 2 years. Will second and third year models have fewer bugs, probably. Will you be able to get a first year for much cheaper used in 2-3 years, yup! However life is never guaranteed, so you might be missing out on a few years of fun too.

I don’t want to wait. There will be bugs, but I’m 2.5 miles from my dealership, it’s got a warranty, and I’ve been getting my Escape serviced there for 7 years now and have a good relationship with my service advisor. I’m not so worried about the depreciation because what I want is likely to be an uncommon build (badlands, MT, lux), so I don’t think there will be too many in the resale market in a couple years. Mostly though, I’m too excited to wait.

That's just it, I don't want to miss out a few years because of an engine/transmission combo that may never be available anyway. Sorry about your mom, and I hope your Dad pulls through. I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer 4 months before I lost my love. You'd think experiencing a parent passing after the final two horrible weeks at home hospice would toughen and prepare you for anything. It doesn't. Finding my GF . . . destroyed me. 2019 can EABOD, and 2020 has made it so I can barely spend time with people and try to heal. I'm thankful for places like this with like-minded people and hobbies.

That's rough man, I'm really sorry! There is so much negativity with everything in 2020 and it seems like everyone is at each other's throat in the political and cultural spheres, so I've really enjoyed this space where everyone is genuinely excited and supportive. It's been a nice breath of fresh air!

I don't trust the government not to pass some law outlawing gas engines etc. So I'll get one in 2021 and then trade up if I need too later. I bought a 1993 Grand Cherokee and a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. Both first model year, and I think both are better then current models for reliability. They did have first model year issues but after about a year all were fixed.

I have found the best risk versus reward value on used vehicles to be around 90,000 to 110,000 miles on the clock. Let the original owner pay 20,000 to drive the Bronco from brand new to 100,000 miles. I swoop in and buy the Used Bronco for $5,000 and usually can get another 100,000 miles before drive train failure. I'm a patient man.... and I can wait.

probably pick up one of the 2005+ Mustangs in the meantime. I really dig that body style... and wanted one since 2005.... The price is now right in my wheel house... and I have waited long enough.
