theBroncoNation site will provide a 10% discount on TrailRax. Pricey (still), but for my money (pun intended), worth it. Come up to NEB6G meet at Armor Ditch, in Epping, NH (Winnipesaukee area), this Saturday only $25 and I'll show you mine--with the Heretic 40" lights.

Keep your eye on Craigslist for generics and the Member Marketplace on the other site and post a "Want To Buy":

I gave up waiting for the OEM, cancel my order and got the TrailRax 2Dr. Came in less than 7 days Was a fun project assembling, exception being the wind deflector it was a PITA and makes final mounting a bit challenging if you have fat fingers. . Once completed no issues. Do note that the cross bars do not accept Thule T-bolts, minor inconvenience. It is a seriously sturdy piece of gear. The rack is way more versatile than the OEM. Glad I got it .

I use 1/4-20 stainless carriage bolts in whatever length needed. Love my TrailRax. Be sure to get the front deflector installed correctly or the squeak will drive you mad. LOL

I keep an assortment of 1/4-20 hardware in a small organizing bin box. This includes bolts, lifting rings (O-rings with a threaded stud), rubber clamps, etc. I put four or five stainless T-nuts in every slot on every bar, so I can screw anything I want in. Just yesterday I brought back a few hundred pounds of lumber, which I tied down to O-rings.
For recovery boards, I have four (plus one spare) 4.5-inch threaded studs, with a 1/4" nut close to one end. I screw them down into the T-nuts, then tighten them in with the 1/4" nuts. I drilled four holes near the corners of the recovery boards: they will be placed over the upright 4.5" threaded studs. Then I secure them with large fender washers and thumb screws. This way, I can lift the recovery boards off easily when I need them, and return them to the four threaded posts when through. From Amazon: rubber clamps for axes, wood saws, shovels etc., and stainless T-nuts.

Not that this helps your thread, but it did remind me of a thought. I thought I wanted a roof rack on the Bronco, then I remembered I had a roof rack on my 1995 GMC Suburban, that I owned for 22 years. Ya know I didn't use the roof rack once in 22 years, sooooo I don't think I need a roof rack on the Bronco. This picture was from 2011, but it looked the same when I sold it in 2017. I some times wish I would have kept that roof rack.

I’ve had similar issues trying to figure out a rack solution. My issue is I still want to take my roof/cab off in nice weather and can do that in just over 10 min without a rack to deal with. This weekend I tried out the Yakima EasyTop which is essentially a pad with tie downs and straps that connect through the cab to secure it to the roof. Since the Bronco doesn’t have window frames the straps do not get in the way at all once secured and you open and close the doors. I had a paddle board on there Sunday and was up to 70mph without an issue, and this morning I popped the cab off - that is the flexibility I need. Depending on what you intend to do with the rack it isn’t a bad option. I just need to carry the occasional canoe, paddle board, ladder, etc and this is the way I’m going until a better option comes out (if one will come out). I’m looking for a modular rack that has a basket over the cab, with quick disconnect bars that go to the windshield frame that I can easily remove when I want to pull the cab off. Carry a canoe on Sat; go to the beach without the top on Sunday. I haven’t seen that out in the market yet.
