Ladies and Gentlemen

We rolled up our sleeves and got our hands dirty with our latest project! We're diving deep into the details of what it takes to turn a 21 Bronco Badlands from stock to a BEAST.

We're tackling the big questions:

What is Hoss 3.0 Suspension?

Portals: Are they just sci-fi, or the real deal for rock-crawling?

And why oh why would we take a spanking new stock Bronco and give it the Wild Horses 4x4 shake-up?

(I'll let you in on a little secret for that last one: because at Wild Horses 4x4, if we ain't pushing the limits, we're just standing still! )

Part 2's on the horizon where we put this bad boy to the test on the trails. If you're curious, got a question, or have some advice to share, we're all ears. Drop a comment here or on the video! See you out on the trails... PEACE

Another great video @mitchcreel
what is the gear reduction of those Portals?
Also what is your track width after adding the Portals? do you need to go with a different wheel offset, than the Sas wheels?

Thanks

So very sorry to hear you chose to pay more for an inferior product......

I do know about portals and used to teach mechanical design at a University.

Several issues with Tibus make them an inferior product to other choices.

1) Three gear helical design. There is only one idler gear (as opposed to two) The Helical design creates significant lateral or axil loading requiring a bearing design that accounts for that. This makes the portal wider and run hotter than a straight cut design. That heat is a loss of energy that would otherwise be transmitted to the ground. It also wears the bearings out much faster. The bearing design is also not as strong as a simpler bearing used in a straight cut profile.

2) The Tibus portal reuses the stock knuckle. The stock knuckle is not designed to handle the additional leveraged loading placed on it. Look at that knuckle. It is a cast hollow design.

3) competing products are offered at a lower cost that also upgrade the brakes and rear axle as well as being a straight cut 4 gear design, and replace the knuckle.

Then again this is just my opinion. It does seem that I may know more about them than you do.... I have been studying them for years.

Tibus was running a 1.3 reduction but I believe they have change to a 1.22 more recently.

I also believe the track width is increase about 10 to 10.5 inch with the Tibus.
