Recently, at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Jennings, Oklahoma, the 2021 Ford Bronco, driven by professional racer Shelby Hall, went head-to-head with a Shelby GT500 SE, manned by Shelby American CEO Gary Patterson.
The racecourse is challenging on its own: 1.8 miles, 10 turns, and over 80 feet of elevation change. Add in the fact that the 2.7L V6 300 horsepower Bronco had to face a 5.2L V8 800+ horsepower GT500 Signature Edition, and most people would assume they knew the winner before the race even started.
But not so fast: Endurance race competitor and skilled off-road driver Shelby Hall was not going to go down without a fight. Hall didn’t hold back, reaching the checkered flag in a surprising position, thanks to a few tricks up her sleeve.
