Recently, classic car auction company Barrett-Jackson held its Las Vegas set. For three days, June 17-19, memorabilia and car after collector car were bid upon and sold. For the first time, four NFTs were in the mix as well.

Part of the Ethereum blockchain, NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are unique digital assets that give the buyer ownership of what’s being bought. On a basic level, think of it as a new form of art collecting.

One of these NFTs was Bronco-related, honoring the sale of VIN 001 back in March.

Barrett-Jackson Bronco NFT

Barrett-Jackson listed the token’s details as such:

“Lot #4003 - The world-famous Ford Bronco is back! After a 25-year absence from showrooms across North America, Ford has relaunched the Bronco, with the initial run of 7,000 First Edition units selling out. VIN 001 of this exclusive first batch is finished in Lightning Blue and comes equipped with the Sasquatch Package. This highly coveted vehicle sold for charity on the Barrett-Jackson auction block for a cool $1,075,000.

This one-of-one NFT commemorates the sale of the VIN 001 Ford Bronco First Edition sold on March 27, 2021, and includes 1 x exclusive video, 1 x illustration and 3 x still images, all relating to the historic sale of this VIN 001 at Barrett-Jackson, for you to enjoy in your Motoclub digital wallet!”

The Bronco NFT sold for $22,000. Additional NFTs –– a Ford Mustang Mach 1, a Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition, and a GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 –– brought in another $45,000 combined, for a total of $67,000 sold in digital items.

Nick Cardinale, executive vice president and general manager of Barrett-Jackson commented to fintech provider CurrencyWorks: “We’ve been at the heart of the automotive collectibles scene for over fifty years, and that experience meant we were quick to see the potential of NFTs. The four sales this weekend at our Las Vegas Auction served as a fantastic launch of the Barrett-Jackson Prestige Collection and we look forward to introducing additional collector car NFTs in the near future.”

Bronco Badlands Raiders Edition

Besides the Bronco NFT, a 2021 Bronco Badlands Raiders Edition hit the auction block Saturday and sold for $275,000, benefitting Grant a Gift Autism Foundation and Raiders Foundation.

The 4-door, 2.7L Sasquatch package Bronco wrapped in Las Vegas Raiders regalia was built out by Maxlider Brothers Customs to include a BDS Suspension 4” lift and 37” tires.

The next Barrett-Jackson auction will be an inaugural Houston event, happening September 16-18, 2021.
