I just recently bought my 2022 Ford Bronco. I want to get the windows tinted but since I have a soft top I am being told the back windows and rear window would not be able to be tinted. Should I skip it altogether? The last thing I want to do is do it and HATE it.

There're plastic. You can't put tint film on plastic. Why would you think that is possible?

Soft top and backseat windows are already tinted at 15% ( or thereabouts). Just get your front ones to match… that’s what I did…AED84131-2D46-4E07-9BB0-B3ECCB5C28C3.jpeg

Hello,
I too was told the back windows were already dark enough and it wasn't worth spending the money on tinting, so I did the front windows to match the back windows, it looks good and it did save me some money

Nice. I want to do the same...what were the "specs" for the tinting? Thanks.

Take it to a tint shop and they can walk you through the options and make sure you are within the legal limits of whatever state you’re in.. I’d recommend the tint that blocks UV

Just went back to look and saw you’re in California.. they won’t be able to legally do the front as dark as the back, but they can do a lighter tint in the front that blocks UV

Yes, I know, my Tint is already done and it is too dark, I agree. I live in small town where in general the police leave old guys with nice vehicles alone, it's the CHP that typically issue fix it tickets for windows being tinted too dark around here, if they see you on the highway.

I asked them to match the back windows, cost $65.00 per door, I believe the tint specs where 40% on the driver and passenger windows, California Law requires, 70% minimum visible light transmission, so I could get a fix it ticket a some point, but it looks great.

Even clear tint blocks UV . Most any shade blocks 99.9% of the UV rays but there are varying degrees of IR rejection . Ceramic tint will give the highest IR rejection .

You’re right, thanks for correcting. I was thinking IR but said UV..

Oh sorry, the comment I made was directed at the other guy asking for assistance. You’re right though, many police won’t care. Although, when I was much younger my friend was pulled over for speeding and the police reached into his car and removed the tinting from the front window (he deserved it!)

As a motorcyclist I am OK with CA front driver's window's tint laws, I like to see your eyeballs and where you're looking. That habit has led to me doing that as a motorist in any vehicle I'm driving and saved me from many bad drivers and their mistakes or asshat driving. I know it looks cool and all, but I prefer seeing the "whites of their eyeballs"... As someone else once said

In the small mountain community that I lived in the CHP do most of the patrolling and they pulled over my neighbor every time. He was a second home owner and only up there part time, so they didn't recognized him as a local and driving different cars didn't help either, so every time he got a new car with tint or added it, he got pulled over; so he just stopped getting tint. In a resort setting especially, the CHP are looking for what's being consumed behind the tinted glass.

It's understandable that you want to protect your vehicle's interior and add some privacy with window tinting. However, as you mentioned, tinting the back and rear windows of a soft-top Bronco can be challenging. One solution to consider is snapshades.com. These are custom-fit mesh window shades that can be easily installed and removed without any adhesives or suction cups. This is a great option for soft-top vehicles like the Ford Bronco because they do not require any modification to the vehicle's windows.
