It has been some time since I last posted on the BN forums. Hope everyone is well and that plenty more folks have take possession of their new Bronco. To all those that have, congrats!
I thought I would swing in, catch up, and give an update on my rig. For those that had followed previously, I was last working on adding a set of side steps. I had gone through 3 sets of IAG EZ Steps (rust) before finally breaking away and deciding to go with a set of ARCHETYPE Racing STIRRUP Steps. This, too, was a fun ordeal...
When I first ordered the STIRRUPS (February) the site stated there was a 3-4 week lead time. After about 4-5 weeks went by I thought I would check the site again, which it was now stating a 4-6 week lead time. I know ARCHETYPE was facing a lot of demand and expansion, so I figured I would just let time pass and they would eventually show up at my door. After about 8 weeks had gone by I decided to send an email. All in, it took just over 10 weeks for the steps to arrive. No big deal, they're just steps. Except...
The wrong steps showed. I ordered the Solid Black and received the Not Solid Black (yes, those are the official names). I emailed ARCHETYPE, who were very responsive a great to work with, and they mentioned they had a Solid Black set that they could get out right away and provided a return label for the incorrect set that was sent. I sent those back right away and eagerly awaited the correct steps...
After about another week of waiting (WA-OH shipping) I received the package. Excited to open and install the new steps, I opened the box and to my surprise two steps were missing. This time they had only sent two instead of four. At least they were the correct color. I emailed again, they apologized and sent the other two steps out right away. This time, with expedited shipping. A few days later I had a full set of steps.
It took a decent amount of time and hassle, especially considering the number of weeks and back and forth with the IAG steps as well, but the Bronco finally had steps. Overall I am very happy with the STIRRUPs. The look great and are very solid - very high quality. As many say, you get what you pay for.
The only thing I did not like was that the upper/outer facing hardware (as closely seen in pic #3 below) was not coated/painted black. Just bare metal and stood out quite a bit. To make the whole package solid black I primed, matte painted, and matte coated the hardware. Blended in perfectly.
