When you feel like you're not meant to have steps but finally have a solid set of steps...

It has been some time since I last posted on the BN forums. Hope everyone is well and that plenty more folks have take possession of their new Bronco. To all those that have, congrats!

I thought I would swing in, catch up, and give an update on my rig. For those that had followed previously, I was last working on adding a set of side steps. I had gone through 3 sets of IAG EZ Steps (rust) before finally breaking away and deciding to go with a set of ARCHETYPE Racing STIRRUP Steps. This, too, was a fun ordeal...

When I first ordered the STIRRUPS (February) the site stated there was a 3-4 week lead time. After about 4-5 weeks went by I thought I would check the site again, which it was now stating a 4-6 week lead time. I know ARCHETYPE was facing a lot of demand and expansion, so I figured I would just let time pass and they would eventually show up at my door. After about 8 weeks had gone by I decided to send an email. All in, it took just over 10 weeks for the steps to arrive. No big deal, they're just steps. Except...

The wrong steps showed. I ordered the Solid Black and received the Not Solid Black (yes, those are the official names). I emailed ARCHETYPE, who were very responsive a great to work with, and they mentioned they had a Solid Black set that they could get out right away and provided a return label for the incorrect set that was sent. I sent those back right away and eagerly awaited the correct steps...

After about another week of waiting (WA-OH shipping) I received the package. Excited to open and install the new steps, I opened the box and to my surprise two steps were missing. This time they had only sent two instead of four. At least they were the correct color. I emailed again, they apologized and sent the other two steps out right away. This time, with expedited shipping. A few days later I had a full set of steps.

It took a decent amount of time and hassle, especially considering the number of weeks and back and forth with the IAG steps as well, but the Bronco finally had steps. Overall I am very happy with the STIRRUPs. The look great and are very solid - very high quality. As many say, you get what you pay for.

The only thing I did not like was that the upper/outer facing hardware (as closely seen in pic #3 below) was not coated/painted black. Just bare metal and stood out quite a bit. To make the whole package solid black I primed, matte painted, and matte coated the hardware. Blended in perfectly.

Good to hear! I really did love the look and feel of those IAGs, which is why I went with them first. I should have tried coating them as well. All behind me at this point. Never buying steps for a vehicle again haha.

Nice steps! But Archetype Racing is located in Silverdale, Washington, not California. Did you get them through a California distributor?
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

You’re going to love ‘em. The best looking wheel on the Bronco, imo. Not only do they look fantastic in the carbonized grey, but the design is spot on. Good choice!

No worries. I was just wondering if a third party was involved. I'm glad you got what you ordered. They look great!

Just passed week 10 on my AR MAGNUMs order (the "lead time" window). Based on what others are reporting, should be another four weeks or so.

By the way, AR sells black mounting hardware for the Stirrups.

They can't seem to keep up on the lead times. They just slowly keep on extending.

Good to know on the hardware, and of course they do. They must have sent the wrong hardware as well. Thankfully, I already had everything I needed to paint them from a couple motorcycle accessory projects I had worked on. It was a quick, simple job and they look great.

I shopped locally for some side steps or running boards nothing or unknown date for delivery.
Looked on some of the US sites found some nice ones but the shipping out of the states is crazy expensive.
Found a set on Amazon decide to pull the trigger I really like them.

@Marmot nice to see you! Bronco looks great! I have the IAG steps, but not the rust issue..... well I have just some light surface rust that I plan to take a wire brush to get rid of it. Hope the new steps hold up better!
@FatbikerJo Bronco your step looks good! Bet it helps stop rock chips on your doors too!

Hey, @Sdakotabronco!
From what I hear the rust issue wasn’t too widespread. Good to hear on yours! I honestly just think they need an improved powder coating process, which I believe they were working on bringing internal. I really do like they look and feel of the IAG steps. Definitely my favorite design.
