Hey y'all -

Can anyone advise of the largest size I can put on my 6" lifted 1996 Bronco. Currently I have 33's, and I'm pretty sure 35's would fit. Is that the max, or could I go higher? (This is a daily driver, but only for a few miles a day...so comfort is not a concern.)

Thank you in advance!

Back in the day, I ran 35's on my '94 with no lift at all. Stuffed them in there, and avoided bumps.
My old '84 had a 4" lift and fit 35's good. If I had to guess, I'd say 6" lift should at least get you 37's, but I never had that set up.
Maybe if we wake up @Baus67, he could give you better answers.

Thanks for the reply! I had posted on another forum. The general consensus was that I lose torque as I get bigger. I do a lot of pull-outs (volunteer roadside), so I'll probably stay with the 33's.

I have a six inch skyjacker lift and it fits 35" mud terrains nicely. The consensus is 35" is about the limits of the TTB front end suspension. Anything larger and your going to chew through ball joints, and tie rods. It just takes a lot of force to turn those big ass tires.... and the suspension/steering factory components were not designed for that abuse. If your even on the fence about going larger than 35" than go straight to a solid front axel.... then the sky is the limit.

I put on my skyjacker in the garage with hand tools. The hardest part to cutting rivets off the frame. You are essentially removing the front suspension … this is the time to replace all ball joints, Tie rods, axel pivot bushings, and your radius arm bushings.

after the lift my 5.8l had very poor performance at take off …… I re-geared to 4:56 and she takes off like a beast ….. but you pay the price at the pump. Before lift, gears, and bigger ties she was averaging around 13mpg …. after the lift 9mpg is a great day on the interstate.

This is on my 1993 bronco that is essentially a weekend toy.

I kept my 1996 all stock. It has the 302 behind a 5 speed stick … and can get close to 16 or 17mpg. That is my daily driver.

I have the same 96 as you: 96 with the 302 and a 5-speed. It's also my daily driver. So, would you agree that I'm probably better staying with the 33's?

33"s on a daily driver is probably the best of both worlds. Still decent clearance and not too bad on mpg

I have squeezed some 35" tires under the stock 1996..... but I had to trim the bumper... and she rubbed at full articulation on the plastic splash guards. Plenty of room in the back to fit 35" on stock suspension.

You can really see the difference between stock ride height and 35"'s with a six inch lift. I have since ditched the white and black scheme.

Thanks for the info and pictures. Nice ride. Suspension isn't an issue on mine. Previous owner lifted it 6".

I'm looking at the KO2 tires, but I'm also considering mud tires. I very rarely get my truck on the highway. Mostly city driving.
