Howdy all, just installed the ICON Tie Rod kit (See link below) and I was having trouble getting the big end of the boot onto the steering housing. I then compared the boot to the OE boot and it appears the lip on the ICON is not as deep as the lip on the OE boots. Has anyone seen or had this issue with installing the ICON Tie Rods?

I did mine a few weeks ago along with a 74Weld stage one steering rack kit. I didn't have any issues with the Icon's that I can recall..

Do you have any photos?

I had a set put on my Badlands. My friend that runs a Jeep rebuild company did the install. I watched and there wasn't any issues. Still no issues today, and that was almost a year ago.

I wish I took a picture of the boots side by side but I needed to get it put back together so I could drive home the night I did the install.

Everything went on fine, but trying to get the boot seated on the housing was a no go. The lip was shallower compared to the OE boots.

If I remember correctly, my boot lip was not as large as the stock one either. I haven't had any issues as there was enough coverage to securely strap the boot on. I'll be changing my oil in the next week so I'll take a look and make sure everything is still fastened correctly.

I was able to snug them down pretty good and they held up to the drive home. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the clamp they provided cause I didn’t have the special tool for it. I’ll keep an eye on them and pray they don’t come off when I go wheeling at Merus later this month!

I agree, the supplied clamp was terrible. I had a tool that might of worked but there wasn't enough room to get in there correctly. I also didn't like the fit of a normal hose clamp so I ended up ordering a narrower hose clamp and it seemed to fit pretty good. I had a week in Moab with the current setup so I'll see if everything still looks good.

Here is what I ordered - https://a.co/d/g416WjB

Here are photos of mine that I just snapped. I've had them off-roading 3 times since install. No issues whatsoever and I am not at all worried about them..

You could always just zip tie / cable tie them as well. I think all the boots on my previous JK eventually ended up with zip ties on them before I sold it. šŸ˜‚
