Got the 74Weld Stage 1 kit installed along with the Icon XD Tie Rods. Took about 5 hours and I also got an alignment done.

https://motorsports.74weld.com/product/stage-1-bronco-steering-cap-and-bushing-kit/

The stock steering rack end cap is kind of laughable next to the 74Weld. It's so thin that after seeing it, I am glad I upgraded it. The Icon Tie Rods are a lot beefier than the stock tie rods.

I have an off-road and camping trip planned for tomorrow and Friday so this will be a nice test of the new mods.

That is a Beefy end cap, almost too pretty to hide it down under the Bronco.

It is.. Unfortunately the price of it was also pretty beefy! 😂

I took it out off-roading Thursday and Friday and I guess the install was fine as the rack didn't fall out nor did the tie rods go bouncing down the trail.. 😭

Did you do the install yourself? I have been interested in the 74Weld rack since I first heard of it earlier this year. What does it do for the warranty? Asking same for the tie rods. I would think that those items themselves would be void, but would the electronics (and whatever else not replaced) still be covered? Thank you !

are the treaded ends on the inner T.R. same size diameter on both? this is the weak point and is no stronger than stock if they are the same diameter. not to try and rain on your parade just curious as to the marketing hype. tierods break most of the time at the threads

You're not raining on my parade but yes, the Icon Tie Rods are a lot thicker than the stock tie rods. The threads are 18mm on the Icon XD Forged Tie Rods -vs- 14mm on the stock Bronco.

Not my photo but here is a comparison image done by someone else.

Stock on the left - Ford Performance in the middle - Icon XD on the right

I do not know what the 74Weld steering rack end cap addition would do to the warranty. I suppose Ford could make the excuse and say hey, we made our end cap as thin as we possibly could so it would fail 1st and save _insert failed stock thingamabob here_.

They could claim that the beefed up 74Weld caused a failure of the thingamabob instead of their super thin end cap failing to protect it by breaking 1st

I assume they could try and void the entire steering rack warranty if they wanted. Would they be successful? Who knows.

Maybe someone with more knowledge on that can chime in.

Pretty much along the lines of what I was wondering. Thank you.

My guess would be that if they want to deny a warranty claim then they will find a way to do so. Especially if you've done any modifications to the area where the failure occurred.

I just assumed my steering rack warranty would be void when I did the install. If something ever happens and they don't void the rack warranty, then cool!

Were you having problems with the OE or did you change for piece of mind?

Mine is in now having the Ford performance severe duty rack and tie rods installed.
I figured that if it was now standard on a 24 badlands, it was a good upgrade.

Piece of mind since I wheel solo most of the time.

Nice! When are you expecting to get it back from the shop?

I get the piece of mind thing. Good choice.

I expect in a week. I had my new pickup show up at the dealership Friday and I wanted to use pass points from it to help pay for the rack. So I'll drag my feet picking it up until I take delivery on the truck.
