Roof Rack Removal

I'm wondering if the factory roof rack will be able to be easily removed when I want the roof to come off. I am debating if I should go with the roof rack from the factory, or purchase an after market one that I can install and remove easily.

I've had the same debate.

I believe @David said that it wasn't held on with bronco bolts, but a fairly standard tool (that would most likely be provided) and it could be removed.

That being said, I want a roof rack and would love one at time of delivery, but I think I'm holding off on examining the after market options. Gobi has rack for the JL that's mounted to the body and pivots up so that the roof can be removed. I feel like something like that would be even easier with the 3 piece top of the Bronco.

The tool is...unique, but it is supposed to be included* so it will be important not to lose it. We'll have more on it later.

*Disclaimer: This is one of those things that could change between now and delivery, we can confirm that it's Ford's plan now but it could change.

I'm betting it's just a fancy plastic handle with a torx bit. Just have to keep a standard/metric multi torx tool handy (also betting 99% of us have a variety of those)

Still going back and forth on the roof rack. I like the look, but doubt I'll ever use it. Also if Squatched, wondering about the additional height...

Things often mount to the rails, like Yakima/Thule crossbars or baskets, etc. I'm opting for it, just for the ease of things; however, GOBI makes a great product and I've already sent an email (to which they haven't responded), asking about when it'll ready or if they need a test mule. Even ordering the stock rack, I may opt for a GOBI.

Y'all must be ordering the 2 door. I believe the 4 door will not have the roofrack, rails or basket. If you are only ordering the 2door with the basket, then removing the T-top over the driver compartment shouldnt require removing the rack or basket.(from what I have researched). The 4 door will need to order/install at the dealer as a dealer(not factory) installed option. Not sure whst thier going to make anyone sign to do that.

I'm skipping the roof rack. The only thing I would use it for is ski's, and I can just get a a trailer hitch mounted ski rack. I'd like it to be as easy as possible to get the roof on/off.

I believe you can get the roof rack on a 4D if you do not get the Squatch package or the 2.7 engine.

The Ford specs for Broncos has had that as a limit since I can remember seeing it. You can't have a 4D with rack and 35" tires. It's on the technical specs sheet from Ford. It's not a "glitch" that needs to be fixed in B&P, it's not available by design.

I’m with you on that. Same thought for the rack for me as well. I already have a roof ski carrier that keeps them all enclosed and protected but I also don’t want it to be up so high that I can’t even reach them

I mean not to jump the gun, but I've been talking to multiple aftermarket rack companies. Most have measurements and are starting to work on some quality racks. I think I'll for sure wait for a stronger, and heavier duty.

Love the factory optional rack from Ford, but I want to put some serious weight on mine, and not have to worry about it. I think for most people the Ford option will be great, and others will wait for aftermarket.

I am getting the roof rack and lock and load platform.the only real weight will be my batwing awning, we use a Gazelle tent currently and love it.it only weighs 30 lbs.
add a few roto packs, and max trax ,and a storage case, and we will be good .

That's disappointing, I was hoping to carry my kayaks up there. Yes it's high but they make rack kits that pull out and tilt down.

About 15 months later, I'm curious what all the Sasquatch 4dr owners needing a roof rack went with.
Anyone go with the: Zroadz? The customer comments there lead me to believe you can not remove the first and second row tops.

Correct, with Zroadz you can NOT remove the top at all, not a single panel.
BadAss Tents has a great rack that you can remove the front 3 panels and looks sharp too! That's my go-to in a few months once the Bronco shows up, actually will probably order end of next month to have it here depending on their avaiability.

I would have thought by now more options would be out there; the Gobi (a little extreme for my needs), the Zroadz that doesn't let your Bronco be a Bronco and the BadAss.

I think the BadAss rack can only support 75lbs? Confusing to be sold by BadAss Tents but it won't support a tent.

Oops, I see BadAss has other options: BadAss full rack
