I got this carrier so I can haul my trike, and am wondering what would beyour opinion on it hitched into a $65 2" receiver that is installed with 4 looks like 1/2" or 5/8" bolts. The trike is about 50#s, carrier is about 20#s.

Just to clarify, you have a standard 2” receiver (that cost $65) and it is connected to the frame of the Bronco by 4 bolts (that appear to be 1/2 or 5/8 size) and you are confirming that your ~70# payload won’t overburden the system, right?

If I got the details correct, the Bronco’s tow capacity is 3500#, so assuming that you have a class 3 hitch (since it’s 2” receiver) that has a > 3500# capacity as they are typically rated at 6000# - as long as the carrier you attached has a capacity rated above the weight of the material that you are carrying, you are absolutely safe!

If your concern was about the bolt size, fear not, the sheer strength of a single 1/2 bolt is far beyond your expectation. Just for fun, I found a chart to illustrate how tough fasteners are…
