Just wanted to share the solution I came up with for my radar detector. I have a Uniden DFR7, and the “pitch” of the Bronco’s windshield is a bit much for the standard window mount. Also, this radar detector — like most — came with a 12v accessory plug (aka cigarette lighter style), which is problematic in the Bronco, given the lack of such an outlet in the front.

I was considering a mirror tap, until I found this 5v > 12v USB A to RJ11 converter on StickerFab. This was the perfect length and solution for power…

But how to mount it? I was hoping to keep the windshield clear of attachments, and I know this is illegal in some areas. So I thought to leverage the 1/4” connector on the dash. After a lot of searching I found this little clamp:

Together this has been the perfect solution (for me). Time will tell how well the power cable holds up, but the clamp is very solid. I’m actually shocked at the lack of power alternatives given how modern vehicles are forgoing the 12v port in lieu of USB.

Hope this helps someone else!
