I thought I saw some prototype roof racks for bronco soft top in SEMA videos. However, can’t seem to find a solution available in market today. Is anyone aware of some aftermarket options made for the new broncos that I can buy today?

sigh…wish I could have had the bronco I initially ordered (hardtop, towing, etc..). My apologies in advance for those who also ordered in 2020 and are still awaiting delivery. I just got my basic big bend a few weeks ago from late 2020 order. For what it’s worth. The wait is worth it. Love this rig.

Manufacturers such as Gobi Racks make external cage-style racks that work with or without a hard top, depending on the model. The mounts can be directly to the roof rails, like the 4Runner, or the body, like the Wrangler. Google-fu Gobi Racks and see what they have going on right now for the Bronco.

The Riptide concept had a prototype soft top rack.

Other options as @AcesandEights said will be exo-skeleton type racks that mount to the body.

Here's another option from SMS.

A coworker had one of these on his Wrangler. Looked great but I’m not sure how easy it was to work the top.

I get the function aspect. But those exo-skeleton racks are ugly as sin.

Do you know of a rack system that works with the soft top up as well as down without taking the rack completely off?

Nothing yet. Not until someone comes up with one that is wider than the top and has quick release cross bars so you could put the top back.

These SMS work, on a Wrangler, with the top up or down. They are made to sit below the soft top when it is up, between the sport/roll bar and soft top. I imagine that's the point of the SMS on the Bronco as well, but I'd double-check. The SMS is a really neat idea, and an idea I had myself but never built, but they are expensive for what it is.

BTW, the SMS are very solid and strong and are certainly stronger than 110/450 lbs rating. You just kind of have to pick whether you have the top up or down when you have something up there, meaning that although the rack will probably fit under the top, a RTT won't, so you'll be driving around with the top down if there's something up there.

I had never seen him actually take the top (he had a hardtop) on and off but he described the process as tedious. I actually like the way they look and absolutely have to have some way to carry kayaks aside from trailer

Thanks Garemlin! We like the SMS racks from exposed racks and they are a good price. I am going with those. Kudos for finding those.

The aftermarket is playing catch up, they'll be some good options in the future.

I found this website the other day that has a concept similar to what 4WP has been promoting.

Mad Mitch, good find. I like how they solved the top up or down issue, but $2200 is quite pricey for the occasional kayak or storage use. It looks aggressive though. Thanks.

I've seen a roof rack on Jeeps that mount on the rear bumper and somewhere on the A pillar, so the whole thing just kind of stands off of the vehicle. Is there a specific name for that type of rack? It gives it a sort of safari look. But when I look up "safari bar bronco" it just comes up with the brush guard. It seems like if someone came up with something like that, with crossbars that could swing like the crossbars on a Subaru, you could swing them out of the way to put the roof up and down. I'd kinda like to see something like that. The one Mad Mitch posted is somewhat similar.

Just got this the other day from Gobi. Looks like it should work on soft top (though hard top displayed). Pre-orders start 3/24.

Just came here to post this. Exactly what I was thinking of. I think it looks pretty sharp. Most likely means my Bronco would no longer fit in the garage though. That’s a rough trade-off.
