The Ford hardtop may not be perfect but for $650 it’s a bargain.
Mine has been fine.
Ford’s rag top has it’s issues. Better to buy the factory hardtop and buy a aftermarket soft top later if needed.
In my opinion, they both have issues. Do you remember the snake skin appearance? The popping sounds? The leaks?
And for the soft top, the glue melting? I have that issue myself.
At the end of the day, I felt Ford should've just gone fiberglass (like the old full size Bronco) and called it a day. But I'm sure they tried to save on weight. They trusted Webasto to deliver a good product. And Ford should've had this figured out with Webasto years before launch. It is what it is.
I chose the soft top because I was looking to replace a Mustang with 230k miles on it. Ford didn't go by reservation order, they went by allocations. I made the call that I felt worked for me, and I live with that decision.
But to plainly say it's better to just go with the hard top @ order, doesn't fit for everyone. Hell, you can find a Jeep hard top aftermarket for around $3k - $3500. I'm sure in a couple of years we'll see the same for the Bronco.
