MORRFlate AMA on Reddit

I have the Trickflate compressor from TD-distributing, which I believe is the same thing. After a couple of Mods (Pressure switch and new output connection) they are great, There are other mods that can be done too and you can buy all of the parts to rebuild if necessary.

There is a FB group "Napa Maxi Trac compressor support group" with lots of information.

They are a bit bulky but fit great in the HF Apache 3000 case

Anyone have any experience with the air compressors he sells?? They seem a little on the bulky side, but they also look very similar to the old blue air Maxi Trac compressors that NAPA sells (or use to sell) that everyone raves about.

I have the MorrFlate TenSix-Pro . I haven't used it for airing up yet but have tried it out using a single hose. I think it will do well when I get the 4 tire hose kit. I like the fact it has digital controls and you can just set the PSI you want and walk away.

Correct, same thing, only his come with the upgrades preinstalled - at a hefty premium.

I have the trickflate compressor it is the same compressor as the moreflate and the maxitrac compressor. I use my trickflate as it came right out of the box with no issues. I do have it stored in a tan Apache 3800 case although if you want to store the hose you might consider the next larger case. I use it all the time and have had to use it a few times when people have needed air. It is a very handy tool fore sure.

I did ask him the question yesterday about why his (and others) have compressors that look so similar. He was actually extremely transparent about the whole thing, which was very surprising.

Apparently there are 2-3 major manufacturers that produce air compressors 20+ brands including his own, NAPA, ARB, Trickflate, etc. etc. Those manufacturers have engineering services to help the companies with the design of their compressor… so naturally designs tend to get reused across brands *unless* the brand goes the extra step to sign exclusivity contracts to prevent their design from being reused (something that I suspect ARB did with theirs). This is something I always figured was happening behind the scenes, but surprised to get confirmation from one of those brands. Usually they keep that stuff hush hush.

Anyway, ton of information in that AMA. Definitely recommend a read if anyone wants to know more about compressors than you ever cared to know before.
