Laminate/Film for the Speedometer?

The one thing I hate about modern cars is I can't take the speedo out and replace some bulbs. I can't solder either, so that options out, so an inexpensive fix

Figure something like this:
Amazon Link for some, or ask Lamin-X to make a custom one off film, should do the trick.

Anyone got any better idea, or why this may or may not work?

Are you trying to do a color change? Or are you looking for like PPF?

Unsure what your goal is. Darken it, change colors, protect it? At first you started talking about replacing bulbs it sounded like something was broken already.

Change color. I fondly remember MyColor on my old Mustang and hate that we didn't get that option, which is totally asinine
What I figure is cut the film to fit perfectly and assuming it's not too thick or whatever, we got a cheap fix for the color change that should work day and night

I had the My Color in my 2005 GT back in the day. That was a nice feature. Frustrating that you cant change the display like that.
I would try a bunch of different color squares on there and see which one works best. The LCD screen puts out a lot of different colors, and I would want to make sure nothing I really needed disappeared when you filtered it through a color (like a red filter with red ink).
You may want to talk to one of the shops making the PPF for the center display- They know what will stick to that stuff without gooning it up, and they can probably work in any color you want.

As far as the bulbs go, on older vehicles from the 90s and below, since they used incandescent bulbs for the speedo's, a lot of people replace them with LED's, as seen here on this XJ:

Again, how hard would of have been for Ford to have done a MyColor for the Broncos?

Definitely will, I'll message a few people soon.
I'd trade the LCD screen for a Mustang speedometer modified to fit. I just want to switch things up.

Are you tinted the plastic lens in front of the speedo or taking the instrument panel apart and placing the tint directly on the speedo?
I'm looking to do something similar. The speedo doesn't dim with the other dash lights and I'd like to put a slightly dark tinted film over it.

Im thinking on the plastic lens

If I knew where to go, Id ship it or send it to a shop that’d resolder red leds and stuff

I picked up some static cling window tint from Walmart then made a pattern of the area of the instrument lens over the analog speedo with paper. Applying the static cling tint was really easy. I'm happy with the results. Perhaps some color tint is available somewhere that you could try.
