Thanks to a number of folks on BNF for posting info about swing hitches, I’ve decided to get a Kuat Pivot v2. Now the decision is getting one that swings to the drivers side or one that swings to the passenger side. To me the obvious one, is the one that swings to the drivers side so it’s out of the way of the swinging tailgate and spare tire that swing to the passenger side. Guy at the bike story recommended getting the swing hitch that also swings to the passenger side. Reason is when swung out to the drivers side it could be out in traffic depending on where you’re parked. For those that have gotten the Kuat pivot 2, passenger side, how much does the tailgate interfere with the swing hitch when both are open? Those that got the driver side, happy with it, would preferred a passenger side swing instead? Appreciate your input.

After finding some other BNF posts on this similar subject and seeing some of the pics posted, I’m going to go with the passenger side pivot. It gets far enough out of the way that the tailgate can open at least 90 degrees.

I was going to get one of those swing attachments when I bought my rear bike rack. I take mine at on and off after every bike trip so I found it way too heavy. I got a 12-in extender and I can get in and out of my tailgate and can open my tailgate up fully if I take off one of the wheel mounts.
