I looked for a thread but didn't find one. How do you feel about tinted windows? I love the look and it saves the upholstery if you get quality and of course it helps with glare. I am new to off-roading though. I imagine a rainy day on the trails having trouble with the view. Thoughts?

If you don't go crazy you should be fine. we have the Darkest tint you can get on our suburban (you can only see in at night if we have the interior light on) and I've never had a problem seeing. if you have the High package or lux the 360 camera will help guide you as well. seeburbantrailer.jpg

I decided to Not tint windows. I usually tint most my cars. But not bronco. We like having a wide open view and front window is pretty small. If its bright I just wear sunglasses lol. I live in the desert where its super hot in 120s during Summer and zero shade. Note, some have tinted their front window which messed with sensors on front window and dash.

My last car (4Runner) had limo tint in back and darkest I could convince installer to put up front. Daytime fine. Night, however, not safe bc hard to see out the sides especially turning onto a side street with car lights coming at you and couldn't see anything out the back wet or dry at night. But it did look cool and didn't have to wear sunglasses during the day.

Did you mean the whole front window or the sun shade interfered with sensors?

Whole front window. If you just do a basic tint strip up top and it doesn't block sensors 3 quarter way up window in middle should be fine.

When I lived in FL some did the whole front window. Prolly so long ago there weren't many sensors. LOL In WI I don't need all the protection.

Yes. Ceramic clear and some basic tints have a heat shield built in. I had light tint with heat shield on my FJ and it was awesome vs my 4Runner after that had super dark regular tint without heat shield and it still got Hot. Heat shield tint makes a big difference IMO.

Also a big one for these as posted on another thread somewhere at BN is a clear PPF protection for the exterior of the front windshield. Otherwise we will all be replacing them quite frequently

I do it more for function over looks. I have trouble at night due to glare. Here in Delaware you can't even get your front windows tinted unless you have a medical waiver. Which I do. When I do tint it is to match the factory tint as close as possible. Which in most cases is around 28%.

And don't get me started on windshield tinting. I can't believe that is actually legal in some states.

At this rate, nothing short of seeing a man eat his own head surprises me anymore

I'd love to do like 90% or so on the windshield, 70% on the front windows and then if I keep the hardtop, 20% to divert attention from the others, though I do know a few docs who'd give me a medical weaver if need be

I tint on all my vehicles. Just looks so much nicer in my opinion

It is my understanding the level of tint (how dark) is mostly irrelevant, but that it must protect from UV,. So, you may as well put a very light film if your purpose is to protect the interior.

I tinted mine to match the back windows. Having the tint helps my migraines.

I did 15% ceramic on front windows, looks to match the rear windows nearly perfect, and the light meter thingy they used to measure the factory tint showed 15% too.

I didn’t do the windshield but I think I will. I think they said a 90-95% is practically clear and just reduces The glare (tint) and the heat (ceramic). I will very likely try the windshield soon. It’s $250-300.

Does anyone know what the factory tint is on the front windows? It should be written on the glass somewhere.

Some states, like MN don't allow more than 50% on the front windows and nothing on the windshield. Anything behind the front windows.
