Mounting fire extinguisher mounts (and other stuff) to the factory bar with Rivnuts

Wanted to mount a fire extinguisher quick-release holder, but I didn't want to use hose clamps on the bar.

If you're familiar with using Rivnuts, there's nothing new to see here. But... if you're not familiar... this is a great way to do a "sanitary" installation.

Luckily the mount I used lined up with one of the holes at the top, and I drilled a hole in the bottom of the mount to line up with the bottom hole in the bar. Worked great.

But you're right the rivnuts are definitely the way to go if you need to punch a new hole and bolt something in it.

For next time in tight spaces. Or just fab one using an M8 bolt and a bushing Nut along with some grease...

Or, just make a standoff surface mounting plate with with some flat steel bar that matches the hole spacing on the rollbar to the holes on the fire extinguisher mount.

Use the Velcro mounts. I had them in the Jeeps for 20 years and now in the Bronco. Work great, no rattles, easy to access, no holes.

Nice. Thanks.

I also notice some 90 degree Rivnut tools, but I didn't want to buy another version of the same tool.

I bought an aluminum lower engine cover for my BMW that replaced the plastic OE part. It came with four (4) Rivinuts and the cheapo tool to install them. Only reason I knew it existed. Where did you get that kit you showed us? That is a nice kit.

That's cool so you don't have to have the rivgun to pull them down, just use that bolt.

Is it this one? I've had it sitting in my "wish" list for quite awhile.

Yep. Seems to be well made. But I didn't expect that rattle possibility as I discussed at the end of the video. Might end up "shimming" it with some masking tape or something.

Yep, I would have gone that way if I'd have known of that. For a "tight quarters" situation anyway.
