Obviously not a new accessory—this was one of the first Bronco accessories that were teased in the early Bronco Nation video.

It caught my eye early on, but the some of the first reviews didn't seem overly hot on it, so I held off. Looked at a bunch of other options in the mean time: For awhile I was real excited about American Adventure Lab stuff... but whew that stuff is pricey. Saw a few @B MIller videos with his cargo security drawer, but I didn't necessarily want to have that drawer in my Bronco 24/7 and reducing the "everyday usefulness" of the Bronco. The Bronco for me is more of an occasional adventure vehicle and less of a dedicated overlanding vehicle, so I have commitment issues. 😉

SO... I waited for Ford's typical holiday 30% off coupon code and finally pulled the trigger on the slide-out tailgate. Super happy with it so far. And as a huge bonus... Ford rates it at 600 lbs, which means I can easily stand on it and access gear on TrailRax roof rack without having to carry a step ladder.

Available via Ford Accessories.

Thanks for the video and photos.. It's a shame there is nothing for the 2DR as I'd probably buy one if there was..

Yeah there's not a lot of options for the 2-door—both from Ford's official accessories and aftermarket.

I had assumed originally the slide-out tailgate would fill up the entire rear of the 4-door Bronco. But, it doesn't—when it's pushed all the way in there is a good 7-8" gap in the frame. So just visually it looks like if they made a smaller frame it would fit in the 2-door, but maybe not—no idea how much room is in the back of the 2-door.

Looks very useful.. I'd buy it if they ever make a 2dr version but something tells me that's not going to happen or they would have already done so...

Rather than supporting the 2dr they will probably drop it because it doesn't sell 1.1 million units a year.
I have a pull out (2 dr only) already designed so you can sleep in the back if you lose the rear seat. Its never going to make it to market.

Thanks for this video!. You've piqued my interest in this slide-out. Like how it levels out the cargo area with the seats down (I'm short enough to sleep in the Bronco). Too bad I missed the holiday discount...

I should have stole my brothers slide out tailgate before he sold his Bronco. Back in 22 I don’t think it would have changed the price he got for his bronco if that as changed out. But I am sure my dog likes having the extra head room.

Nice. I just picked up the cargo security drawer yesterday off Marketplace for a good price.
It would be cool to find a way to get this to work with the cargo drawer on top of it. slide out work area, slide out storage drawer, still have open space to store things on top. Hmm....

Great video, Ragnar.

Semi-unrelated, but I saw in some FB groups that owners of Broncos that came with one didn't even know they had it. The people replying were all running out to check their Broncos. Hopefully this keeps bringing some awareness!

I think @TechnicalDisaster brought up this idea in the YouTube comments.

My hunch is it would be possible to do this, but you'll probably have to drill new holes in the cargo drawer to line up with the slide-out tailgate. Complete guess/gut feeling on my end, so could be wrong, but I suspect it wouldn't be that much work to make it happen.

Yeah, if I find a good deal on one from Marketplace, I might make that a project at some point.

You would also need to notch the rear of the cargo drawer so the passenger seats still have room to recline when the cargo drawer sits higher/

It's an interesting and practical addition to your cargo compartment. Nice video, too. But if I had a dime for every time you said "Bada Bing Bada Boom" I'd have a few bucks. 😜

I am glad your Dometic fridge fit well after the installation. It's snug but it fits. Getting that extra storage in the back of the unit is a pretty cool fringe benefit as well.

Oh yeah... If ya wanna know all of your annoying vocal ticks when you talk, make a video and then spend hours editing that video.

"But anyhoo" and "Yahtzee" are two more I say a ton... which I was completely unaware of until I started making these videos. 😬

When I was a young, a friend and I made a video of a club car show we were hosting. When we got around to watching it, I lost count of how many times I said “Sweet!” It was hysterical.

I like your filming style. It’s very entertaining and approachable. Keep up the good work!

Thinking the same thing. I already have the cargo drawer looks like it would bolt right down on top of the slide out table.

To be 100% honest, I didn't know the rear seats could recline lol.

They "recline" about as much as a seat on a plane. But they do have a second position that reclines about 1-2".
