Interior Lighting

I am absolutely loving my big bend - I picked her up July 23rd and have driven a little over 2000 miles.

A couple of quibbles, the whistle is there, I'm hoping the recall fix next month will get rid of that and one other quibble, I hope the hive mind has a solution.

I haven't heard anyone mention this, so here it goes, the interior lights are weak and it is dark in the bronco. I've put flashlights in a couple of the cubby's so I can see, but that is not always the best solution (I need a free hand to use). I've seen aftermarket interior lighting for cars that might work, but...

Do you think those lights can be tied to the existing interior lights so they illuminate when expected, i.e., when the door opens? Or will those have a separate switch, slightly inconvenient, but workable? TIA

I thought the same thing that the lighting could be better. It’s pretty dark at night looking for something!

I've upgraded the interior lighting on several other cars and plan to do it with my upcoming Bronco, but since I won't see mine until next year, I can't give you a detailed write up. I don't think you should have any problem tying in LED lights to the existing lights. LEDs draw very little compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. You SHOULDN'T have any issues tying them in. I also recommend checking the existing interior lights to see if they are incandescent or LED. If they are incandescent, you can try a site like superbrightleds.com , and see if they have LED replacements for those lights. That can make a big difference in and of itself, without having to add additional lights or strips.

You should be able to control interior light brightness through the Sync menu

It seems like the User Manual (pg 332) indicates they are not servicable.

Checked settings in the sync 4 menu last night. There is Zone Lighting and Ambient Lighting settings. The Ambient Lighting only seems to control the footwell lighting. I think the problem is the only interior lighting comes from 2 small led’s above the mirror area and the back bar behind the passenger’s head. With it being a removable top lies the issue.

Personally, I prefer a dark interior at night and typically turn down the interior lighting to fairly low levels in my vehicles. But, there are lots of products that will add supplemental interior lighting and you can either wire them to existing loads or add separately and control via the Aux switches if equipped.
