Go Rhino D6 running boards install difficult.

Got my Bronco, and retrieved the Go Rhino D6 side running boards I'd had a few weeks to do the install. The Brackets went on easily, instructions are good. But the actual rail part install was very frustrating and difficult. Even with my daughter and a neighbor helping hold the rail up, you still need 5 hands to try to fit the mounting hex bolts through the brackets into the floppy fit plates that slide inside the rail square tubes. You have to try to hold the plate both up against the rear of the slot (about 2” wide), and at the same time hole it upwards so it’s threaded holes align to the slot. Then you have to blindly try to get the holes aligned and the bolt to thread. There are 6 of those on a side. It took about 15 minutes of time to install the 3 brackets on one side. Then about an hour of cursing and sweating and fuming trying to align all the bolts that mount the actual rail to the brackets. Be prepared to have a difficult time.

Dominator D1 just as bad. Assuming it's the exact same concept.

If you got the 2 boards up in an hour you did much better than I. Felt like it was an hour each side, with just as much cursing!

I ordered the D6 also. This should be fun, lol. How do you like them? Anything you don’t like?

No, it was definitely about 1 hour for each side, AFTER the 30 min to put the brackets on. Go Rhino needs to make some removable holding jigs or something. That was about the hardest time I ever had screwing a simple bolt into a hole.

Once you figure out the bolt trick, it goes fast on the other side. Just have to know the trick and they are so worth it.

What are the measurements to each step from the ground? Just trying to figure out if the wife will need the second step or not. Thank you in advance.

Mine did, hence the stirrups. But easy to take off when you need the clearance. 18" to board.. 13" to stirrup. The 5" makes a huge difference

I would try some wood blocks and a wedge or a jack , perhaps 2 jacks. Not heavy but you have to hold things in place. If held in place maybe, I say maybe, two people could line up a bolt a bit easier.

If you add bigger tires for sure you will need a step for people under 5' 5" especially if they are older or wearing clothing that is hard to climb into the vehicle in.
Waiting to be a Bronco owner got a base model on order. So someday, maybe?

Thank you for the measurement. 18” is exactly what my current F150 step is at and she gets in fine. Getting out in heels is scary for her, but funny to me, lol.

I must have lucked out because I was able to install them myself with just a box that was the right height to support the step as I bolted them in. Wasn't easy though

We both do enjoy having them, they are very nice to step in with. It took a few tries to work out the routine, having never had running boards. You just use the foot away from the door for the step, like putting a foot in the stirrup of a saddle. Then swing the right leg in (drivers side). My wife's right leg is weak from a surgery. So she has to do a few more moves. But much easier than before we installed them.
