Anyone have issues w the Ford Performance tune for the 2.3? I have a manual to compare apples to apples. Went to order it today and use my points, dealer was trying to talk me out of it, said “there’s issues with it” and “doesn’t make much of a difference”. I’ve seen some youtube videos w automatics so i know it does boost power at least w an auto.

I have manual too, and unless you use premium fuel I've heard there is not much of a difference.

While I am no help to you, as I have an automatic, there is a noticeable difference with the 2.3L performance tune and when I did not have it. It's honestly night and day. But, I have an automatic like I said. I have not experienced any issues with it (*knocks on wood*), nor have I heard of any issues with it in the automatics.

It's also what I used most of my points on.

what fuel type are you using currently?

Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium (93.5 Octane). It uses the sweetest crude in the industry of the large and most common fuel providers in the USA.

How does the Ford 2.3L performance tune compare to the VR Tuned performance tuning box?

Can't speak for VR box never looked into them or how they operate, but the Ford Performance is a mild stage 1 type tune. Besides boosting the HP and TQ, it allows you to adjust for bigger tires, change axle ration if you change them, add front locker if you upgrade to the M210 front diff. Also adds rev match if you have a manual trans. No box or attachment required on the dash either. Although you can leave it plugged in to use a gauge and monitor option, just load the new tune and unplug it.
