Have you thought about making a hood protector that connects under the hood and does not lay on the hood? Your type of protector looks good and probably does a good job, but you can't clean under it, the tape rubs on the and leaves marks on the paint.

I'm just curious on the design difference between the two. What is upgraded on the "deflector upgrade" vs the protector? Ilike the design but if have the same concerns as @MIGeezer

On my F-150 & my old 09 JK I had a Weathertech deflector. They used existing holes under the hood to attach it. It roles up over the front of the hood. It does not touch the hood/paint and there is room to get you hand behind it to clean and wax. The one on my JK was 10 years old when I sold it and looked like it was new. The one on my F-150 is 6 years old and looks new. I found one for the Bronco that was close to this design, but it touched the hood. You had to apply the small bump stops to keep it from hitting your hood. I sent it back.

I guess I'm going to get the clear film installed to help protect the hood. The installer I spoke to said it's good for about 5-7 years.
