Do amber DRL Fog lights have to be used on an aux switch

Im looking to buy the RC fog light kit with the amber DRL with it. I can use the factory aux switches for both the amber DRL and the fog light but is it possible to tap just the amber DRL to something else so that they turn on with the start of the car. I want to avoid using 2 of my auxiliary switches if I can

I think I understand what you are trying to get to, and I would say just tap into a line that gets power when the Bronco is running. Either use a fuse tap or the headlight DRL wire. Not sure which Bronco you have, but should be easy enough to find.

I have a set of the RC spot lights (ditch) with the amber DRL, in my case I went with using an aux switch as the ditch lights already were on a switch, still have a few left over. But it would've been simple enough for me to use a fuse tap as well.

So just tap an active wire for the amber backlighting and then wire the ditch light to an Aux switch?

Yes you can do that. Make sure you seal up your connection though. Might be better to tap to a fuse in the box, it's more protected.

first post....yay....

further query.....I had seen an Outer Banks '23 (clarification, briefly owned) with OEM fog lights that had a push button controller for operation of the fog lights. Now own a '24 Badlands Sasquatch (standard light controller and no push button).

as I am investigating options (and learning the general forum), does anyone know if a OEM light controller (for headlight with push button fog light operation) be used to activate fog lights in an aftermarket application w/o having to use the supplied rocker switch (mounting location) or one of the aux switches? don't know how the wiring is, but are harnesses similar between model years, just need to have the correct pin/wire for functionality?

I have not dug into electrical schematics -- and not my forte, just beginning.....but looking for any seasoned guidance in an existing post w/o creating another thread. (related to fog lights from Rough Country with an additional twist.....?)

From what I have seen, it definitely can be done. I believe some Forscan modifications need to be done also. I know there is a thread over at B6G that has some information. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Found it. https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/factory-fog-light-switch.22937/
Lots of noise but also a lot of good information. It's a very long thread but you should be able to find everything you need.

Welcome to the Nation!
Broncos that have the Modular bumper from factory do not have the fog light push button. I think you need to have the high or lux package to have the wiring harness that is just plug and play. If you do not you will have to add wiring from the switch. But you should be able to replace your existing switch with one with a fog light button, in fact there is a button you can add that has front and rear fog lights. There are a few folks here that have done that.

my vehicle has the LUX package.

fairly new to the bronco lifestyle/wheeling aspect, but why front/REAR fog lights? I have just been talking about getting one for over 35 years -- and well, the wife gave here blessing and here I sit......
