You don't need a FM antenna to receive Sirius XM. I remove all my long antennas because all I listen to is XM.

I mostly use my songs off my phone since radio plays whatever trash they're paid to play. Streaming works nav ect. Radio works but can be spotty. Sirius worked when I had it but if you drive under a shadow it cuts out just as it always does. You could just unscrew your antenna and test the Sirius. I was going to do a shorty but I liked the naked look once I removed the antenna and nothing I use is effected.

We have Sirius on our F250 and have the Sirius app on my phone and use apple play with the app on my phone for the Bronco. It works well. I removed the large antennas and put on shorties. I have a Tekk short antenna on my F250 and a Ronin .50 cal antenna on the Bronco. I couldn't tell you how well the FM/AM antennas work because I use Sirius all the time. As mentioned, the antennas on the hood which were replaced with the shorties have nothing to do with Sirius.

I got tired of that whip antenna bending when driving down the road. And as @Darrel has said it is a pain when cleaning the windshield. I just bought a cheap stubby antenna from autozone. It works well. And is much nicer looking with the snorkel. It is all a preference thing. We listen to NPR and we are fairly far from the radio signal and it works with just a small loss in signal than the normal longer antenna.

I changed mine out for a shorty I purchased at my Ford service department. Reception is still as good as oem antenna.

New head units buffer Sirius so it doesn't cut on when shadowed unless you stay there a long time.

The FM antenna and Sirius antenna are two completely different parts that operate independently so there's nothing to "test".

You are correct. The Sirius antenna is on top of the rear roll bar in the back. You can only see it if you climb up and look with the rear clam shell off.
