Armrest (center console) wireless phone charger / organizer options

I've been looking at center console organizer options (mostly on Amazon, but realize there are others). I was looking at one of the 2-tier organizers that allow access to the 12 V cig-lighter plug in the lower tray. But then came across this option (this one is IAG option, but found similar Amazon options also):

There were no reviews on IAG, and the Amazon reviews are mixed. With limited storage generally in the little spot under the radio, I like the idea of a hidden charger since I don't need to see the phone with Apple wireless car-play. Keeping the phone off the dash and also charging seems like a win-win.

However, for about the same price, i could probably get the double tiered trays and plug in a wireless charging mat that would fit into the top tray and just run the cord down to the cig lighter. This way, if the charger dies, it can be replaced separately from the storage trays.

Anyone done this with one of the wireless charge pads? Or the center console organizer with integrated charger?

If you want a quick and easy solution go with these, but if you need to use all the center console space maybe try getting creative.

I got this one on Amazon and it is nearly 100% identical to the one from IAG. Same color 12v port - even down to the flimsy divider protectors. It's a great solution for me because I just wanted my phone out of the way and I don't use much of the center console space. This option will make it somewhat annoying to access the rest of the console below it once installed. It fits and charges my iPhone 14 Pro Max with a case without any issues.

The one from Mabett is very popular, and is just $12.59 on Amazon. There are a lot of people on the forums that have it and like it.

Thanks for the replies. I like the finished look of the built in charger, but it's not really visible, so went with 2-tier divider after looking again at how deep this space is, and then found a small puck-style mag charger that should stay locked on the phone, if needed, while driving. Charger, high power cig adapter and the storage trays are about the same price, fingers crossed.

I'm late to the party and it sounds like you already ordered. But I second the Mabett organizer than @Irishdore posted.

To be honest, a lot of Mabett stuff is cheap plastic garbage. The glove box organizer, for example, is worthless. But the center console organizer is solid (and better than Ford's own cheap garbage).

What puck did you end up going with? Does it overheat your phone like the built-in one from Ford?

Just ordered, so cannot attest personally yet, but the reviews were pretty good and it's small enough footpring to just keep laying in the console when not in use. It's not billed as a car charger - but some reviews say it works well in a car with the right type of cig lighter adapter (ordered separately). So if it's a bust in the car, I can use it inside I guess.
Sidenote for newer vs. older iphone users: I was originally looking at the larger pad style, little larger than the phone outline, but I've found that my new iphone 14 - at least with average cases we have - the camera guards stick up and keep the phone from laying flat, so they don't work on the older universal wireless chargers we have at home. But this round style stays flat on the back of the phone below the camera lip.

I know I’m late to the party on this but I bought the Mabett tray, an Apple brand wireless charger (to take advantage of the extra thermal monitoring that they claim to have with their charger/iPhone setup), and then this adapter from Etsy:

I set the adapter a little proud of tray since my iPhone is the Max size and barely fits in the tray. By installing the adapter a little proud, I can push down on the top end of the phone and get my fingers beneath the bottom end for convenient removal from the tray.

Just throwing another idea into the mix! When it comes to chargers, I’m more cautious than most.

Yes, i took the Mabett console tray and measured out where the Apple MagSafe charger should go. Then, I drilled a pilot hole to guide a 2.5” hole saw for the flush mount kit from Etsy.

Now I’ve got a magsafe charger hidden in the center console. All the cables are hidden underneath and i have it plugged into a usb-c adapter for the DC outlet inside the console.

I’ve caught it slow charging to make sure it maintains a safe phone temp inside the enclosure which is the whole reason I wanted to use the apple branded MagSafe puck

My truck has been put away for the winter but I’ll grab some pics when I check on it here on the first of the month
