Hi all,

Ive been reading as much as I can find regarding wheels and tire sizes but I have yet to find out if I can put 35 x 12 tires on the stock OBX without SAS and without any lift. I’m not particularly fond of the stock 18” wheels and I couldn’t get the 17” wheels without getting the SAS package. I’d like to get some 17” wheels +25 offset and put 315/70R17 tires on without adding any lift. I had read somewhere that it’s possible but may have to remove the crash bars. Anyone done this?

If I remember correctly 35's fit on a Base. Therefor will also fit on BB, BD, & OBX.
Crash bars will need to be removed, but as long as you are using it as a daily driver you'll be OK. Though I'm sure some will wheel with it also.

+25mm offset should be fine, SAS is +30 if I remember correctly. But I'd still take it easy over the bumps until you get a better idea for how it handles.

Many will tell you (OK mostly @Baus67 would always say to me), he believed Ford designed the wheel wells for 35" tires.

Ther are pics at B6G of several who have put 35 x 12.5's or 315's (315's pictured below) on stock non-Squatch suspensions , even using the +55mm factory wheels ....and they fit!
They fit well enough for trouble free street driving with only a slight rub at full lock on the sway bar. Descibed best as "just kisses the sway bar at full lock". Nobody suggests offroading 35's without a lift though.

FWIW, I have enough faith in them that I have ordered 35 x 11.5 Toyos (load range C) for my Base and some Badlands (standard) take offs, but I will very likely lift it LATER on.

Thanks. Mostly hwy driving with the occasional sand or mud on the beaches or land management areas. I was considering a slight lift but concerned about garage door height. I have to keep it under 80 inches including the roof rack.

Are the crash bars bolted on or is there cutting involved to get them off?

Never mind. I found the video link someone posted. Pretty simple task.

Yep, simple task. 2 bolts per if I remember correctly. We took them off for the BIL's Bronco that he put 295's on. He also did the 2" zone off road level lift. His Big Bend now sits higher (up front) than my Base Squatch. And he's using the stock BB wheels.
