I got my 2022 with a soft top in February and my Ford dealer is still unable to get me a hard top as an accessory.

Do the 2021 hardtops fit on the 2022 bronco? The dealer is trying to figure this out as I guess the 2021 hard tops are easier to get so I am curious if anyone has done this. Ty.

Well… interesting.

So early Broncos had a hard top (we’ll call it MIC v1) that had some manufacturing defects. Ford recalled those original hard tops and had a top replacement program to replace all of them with newer hard tops (MIC v2).

When the dealer/shop replaced the MIC v1 tops with MIC v2 tops, they were supposed to destroy the MIC v1 tops so no one could use them and submit evidence to Ford. Obviously there is a possibility that did not happen and not all of the original tops were destroyed.

To my knowledge the MIC v2 tops and the hard tops on the 2022MY Broncos are the same tops. So my fear is that there are some original MIC v1 tops kicking around that your dealer can obtain, but you would inheriting all of the issues the MIC v1 tops had.

There is a possibility that there is a 3rd version of the hard top that slipped by the Bronco enthusiast community. If so, that probably would have been installed on all Broncos built after Feb 2022, and obviously since the community didn’t notice then the changes are extremely minor. So I personally doubt there is a third version.

BUT… the 2021MY Bronco and 2022MY Bronco both have the same mounting mechanism for the hard top so you shouldn’t have any problem installing a 2021MY top on your 2022MY. Up to you if you want to take a risk on a potentially defective hard top.

Keep in mind that any dealer swapped MIC v1 to MIC v2 arrived without glass so any leftover MIC v1 tops would likely require replacement glass throughout (side & rear)
