Yakima crossbars

I just ordered the Yakima cross bars and the site I was on was recommending 55 inch crossbars but the Yakima site says 55 inch won't fit and recommends 60 inch bars.
I was wondering if anyone has bought these crossbars and if so in what size. The 55 inch looks like it should fit without extending past the car and I feel like the 60 inch will look odd.

Any help greatly appreciated

I use Thule products, but in general the fitment principles are the same. Measure the distance between the outside edges of your left and right roof rail at the widest point (they are usually not perfectly parallel) - your crossbar length must be greater than this. Measure the distance between the outside edges of your mirrors - your crossbar length must be less than this. I prefer the utility of a little added length.

My wife put the 60" Yakima HD crossbars on her Sport. We debated 55" v 60", more overhang but doesn't look bad and obviously more room. Plus we haven't seen a Sport with the same crossbars yet. The HD racks are SOLID and the mounting points on the ends are a nice addition.

Not a great photo and can't figure out how to rotate it, but this is the best pic I have that kinda shows the overhang.

I went with the 55 inch because I am inpatient. There really isn't a huge difference from looking at this photo.

Looks nice! I omitted details - we are also impatient and could get the 60" HD bars and mounting/locks/etc at REI with no wait (in stock, 55" needed ordered)...that highly contributed to the 60 inch over 55 inch decision lol. Most importantly, we are VERY happy with the HD bars and glad we chose them over other options. Rock solid. A little wind noise, but my Bronco is a soft top so the Sport is still awkwardly quiet in comparison.

We're debating to get 60" as well instead of 55". How do you like it so far? Gonna start the rack mod after mounting the new tires from 4Wheelonline tomorrow.

I personally like the overhang of the 60" after using them a lot. It helps with getting items up on it without leaning against the vehicle (sliding paddle boards off), plus the extra mounting room if needed. I could see why people prefer the 55" look though.
