Dash Cam Question

Hello, I did try and find the thread that had the mention of the Garmin Mini 2 dash cam, but was unable to find any mention. I hope this is a simple question. I’ve never had a dash cam because for one thing I really don’t trust the suction cup mounts. So this little camera seems like a solution with the dongar adapter to plug it into the mirror.

My main question is how does an adhesive mount (in general) hold up when you don’t have a garage? I’m outside of Atlanta so we do get a lot of heat during the summer.

Thanks

I also live outside of Atlanta. I do wish they had the same screw in mount in a Bronco for the dash cam and that they added that feature over to the Bronco Sport, but unfortunately not.

I'm not even sure that I can hook it to the mirror as they poster I read did. I have a 2024 BS Outer Banks. I'll have to do more research on it before I decide. I would love to find one I could just put right behind the navigation screen on the dash. I don't even mind running a cord to plug it in for that short distance. But alas, it would have to be upside down to do that and well, you know :) and Hi there neighbor.

Hi there :).They do have a aftermarket tray that mounts behind the screen. I haven't bought one, but maybe you can use that as a mounting point for the dash cam.

Thank you, I'll look into it.

All sorts of gizmos and holding attachments for the 1/4-20 base on the center of the dash. Some will accommodate two or more devices, so you could mount your dash cam there and your phone (or something). Go to Amazon and search "bronco dash phone mount," you'll see lots of items. Something should work for you.

I also have the Garmin Mini 2 and mounted it right behind the rear view mirror via the supplied adhesive mount from Garmin. This is a '23 Badlands SAS LUX. Already went through 2 TX summers and haven't had any issues with it coming off. Seems pretty solid. Ran the wiring down the pillar and connected it to fuse # 35 (5amp) in the Body Control fuse box which is aux power so it turns on/off automatically with ignition. Works fantastic.
