Hello all! I am unsure if anyone in here has seen the videos of the 5th generation Bronco's with the 7.3 swapped into it, but me and my friends are planning to do the same thing! I will need to dive deep in the forums to find out tons of info, but the plan is to buy this old 2003 E 450 ambulance with a 7.3, (most likely a 4R100 trans), and tons of other components that would be of big help! My Bronco is not a daily driver or anything of the like so it won't be rushed. Let me know if you have any tips, recommendations, ideas, prayers, etc. This should be one hell of a project, but I am doing this because it is hard, not easy. No projects should be too easy!!!

I’ve thought about doing a 7.3 swap on mine but haven’t really looked into it. Keep posting about it as you get it going would love to see the progress

Why would you re invent the wheel? Ford made a kick ass Excursion with all the needed suspension upgrades, solid front axel, and a 7.3L diesel...… If you look really hard you can find one with a manual. too each their own. I see Ford pintos with 302's crammed into them.... and all I think is why wouldn't you just buy a Mustang????

Good luck.... I always really loved the 7.3l …. that is what brought me to the monster Excursion.

If he plans on taking the Bronco off road, the Excursion is not the vehicle to do that. I owned a '04 with a 6.0 for many years and loved it, but it wasn't definitely not a nimble vehicle. Even as a highway cruiser, I always felt like it needed a better suspension under it. A lot of people changed out the springs otherwise it bottoms out quite often.

Got to have something unique. Had to put the project on hold because the auction where I was going to buy the ambulance had this reserve they made after the fact... Either way, it will be done one day... just need to find a good auction. Since that blew up in my face I just bought another Crown Victoria I plan to restore along with my Bronco. Thank you all for all the encouragement, anyone who knows these 5th gens like the back of their hand, I will need your help! For the mean time we will be going research to do it, and are looking for good links, helpful forums, etc.

Definitely a beast to maneuver around...….. but that is what the Jeep guys say about the fullsize 5th gen Broncos now. I Love the whole Excursion drive train package (D60, 10.25 Ster, get the ZF5 trans with a 7.3l) I would like to see someone cut up a Excursion frame to fit a 5th generation body.

Not a bad idea... a lot of people do not look at auctions so I have a better bet of getting all of that but for change. The ambulance I was watching has the 7.3 (obviously), 10.25, trans, drivetrain.... anything we needed it had it. If you are curious on my vehicles and such i am on IG: @johnny_p7b

That looks great! I've never seen an Excursion lifted like that around here. Kudos for doing something out of the norm. (y)

Some people just like wrenching on their rigs. The 7.3 is a beast, I love that engine.

It is my favorite truck. Use it more for towing and family hauling. Have 206k miles on the 7.3 and the thing runs strong.
