I purchased a 2021 Bronco 2 door Big Bend. My problem is that 3 times now my hydrolic cylinder has popped off the ball at inopportune times.
I have returned it to it's mount using my hand and hitting it back on, the second time I used pliers to spread the clip to remove it and reinstalled it after I returned it back to the ball mount. A month later it popped again this time I tapped it with a hammer and all was good till yesterday I opened the gate and it popped again. Has anyone had a problem with their Bronco doing the same? If so how did you fix it? I want to buy a new clip but not sure where to go or what they are called.

I‘m sorry, but from this description I have no idea what the issue is… please rephrase your first sentence…. And maybe send a picture…. If the issue is with a part, any dealership parts department can set you straight.

Thank you for your reply. It isn't really an inconvenience as it's more of pain in the butt. What I want to know is if anyone else has encountered this and how the remided it. Did they buy a new clip, if so where? I really don't want to go to the dealer if I can buy a clip at my local hardware store if that will cure the problem rather than parking at a dealer ship and waiting two hours to have some one look at it. Being a Bronco owner I consider my self, pretty self sufficient.

My question is what "hydrolic cylinder" are you speaking of..... Pics please because I really do not know what "hydrolic cylinder" is held on with clips. What does it operate? Where is it located?

My guess is that @gray squirrel is talking about the rear swing gate. Just my guess.

And to respond to @gray squirrel no I haven't had this issue. If it were me, I'd reach out to Flip over on B6g for part numbers and order the parts as well. He is AWESOME to deal with, unless I need something in a hurry, I reach out to him.

Yes, EvlNrDys you are correct. It is the rear swing gate. And I'm glad to hear no one has reported this problem. It's not a big deal as it is supposed to come off if I remove the swing gate, which I don't ever plan on doing just inconvenient when it pops off by itself. I will check into B6g if I can figure out if that is a website or ?

Bronco6g. Just don't mention my name over there as I'm currently banned under this name, have been for years.

Flip works for a Ford dealership (in Indiana I think). He's awesome to deal with, super helpful and you can't beat his prices. I send anyone I talk to, to him.

Thank you, my only problem is I live in Michigan. I'm not going for a drive down there for a clip and with out information of who he works for I will have to seek answers else where. But I do appreciate all who have taken the time to reply to my query.

Hell I live out in NJ. I don't drive there either, I have him ship the parts to me. And he'll even tell me if it's not worth to ship (shipping cost more than the part), like he did when my ambient air temp sensor went out. But he did give me the part number for it so I could get it locally.

Though so far to date I've probably spent over a $1,000 with him in repair parts and always got a much better deal than what the local guys were selling for. So it's good to keep him in mind.

I have to agree with E.N.D. about Flip. Would not hurt to take a couple of min. and contact him.

Do you know what dealership? Or I'll just pull the pin again and go to my mom and pop hardware store.

Thank you Mr Jimbo that is what I was looking for, only here it's listed at $28.00. That's not going to stop me though.
To BlueStreak57 I have done more searching and found it is normally called swing gate and the part I was looking for is called a strut or as Ford calls it, Tailgate Gas Lift. Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction I did go to a mom and pop hardware store and they had no clip that was even close. Saw a video of a gentleman who purchased a strut and said,
"Broke the last gas strut and liftsupportsdepot.com had a new one sent out the day I broke it and this one has a little less force to it. If you are looking for a gas strut for your Bronco rear swing gate check this one out at LiftSupportsDepot.com - 4968M10-W"

I have had this strut on now for 3 days, the one with the metal ends. I used to struggle with the OEM strut trying to open it and it stretched the nylon ends out. With this one I was not prepared with how well it works. Pull the hand and the liftgate opens auto-magically. Need to hold it though as it will knock a small child on their butt. What a difference from hardly opening to swinging freely. Also I am in no danger of taking out the taillight my tires are on 17 inch rims but I can see with mudders it could be a problem. Maybe you can adjust it so it doesn't have as must push behind it? For now I'm quite content. If anyone is curious the posts that it sits on are 10 mm. Your welcome.
