I was strolling through the Facebook Bronco group "Ford Bronco 2021+ (NOT BRONCO SPORT)", and the subject matter at hand was "Any reasoning given why no more 2.7 in Outer Banks?". Any truth to this? Would this be included as part of the mid year Job 2 changes? Looking for the nitty gritty from a much better source than Facebook!

Although I’m not a Ford employee, I’m guessing it came down to having 2.7’s available for more popular trim levels (Badlands and Wildtrak)…. As a 23 2.7 OB Sasquatch owner, I was sorry to see the 2.7 dropped in this trim, but there are always adjustments made year to year… I think this happened BEFORE Job 2, but don;t quote me on that…

Take rate probably wasn't high enough.Only going to get worse, they don't offer the manual box with the 4 cyl. sales will get even worse and the model dropped. They have too many models as it is.
If they are saving the 2.7 for other vehicles it would be for the 150. The 150 outsellls the bronco 20:1.

Everyone wants to say take rate but I call B.S. on Ford. Since it's launch Ford has tried to push people to the 2.3l just so they could get more Broncos on the road (2.7l was a commodity constraint early on). But now I believe it's because Ford has hit a limit of how much they can RAISE prices every year so this allows them to push people into a higher trim who want the 2.7l.

I've driven the 2.3l in the past, power isn't bad at all. But for me personally, I'd take the 2.7l all day long over it. But that's also only because they don't offer a V8.

The 2.3l is good, but do wish they had the 2.7 available with the manual. Love my Bronco, and having the manual was more important to me than the bigger engine. We did spend the money to get the V8 in the 22 F150. Having a 2.7 in it just didn't seem right

Good choice, I test drove a 150 with the 2.7 and 10 spd. Came away not liking either one.

Loved my F150 with the 2.7, until i needed to pull something bigger than a utility trailer… I really like the 10-speed transmission, and for me the combination in the Bronco is perfect.

I have a 21 Badlands SAS. Wanted the manual but found out could only get SAS with the auto. So 2.3l auto sas it is and I have zero regrets. Wasn't looking for go fast hp. This thing crawls everywhere I want it to go and the bonus is I only have ONE turbo to hate!

My 2.3 (manual) has plenty of power, and the displacement difference isn't very much. Having said that, if the 2.7 had been available with manual, I'd have ordered it.

If the V6 was available with the manual they would probably have half the total
production with manuals and no 4 bangers at all.😄

Doubtful… unlike Europe, Americans by and large don’t want manuals…

If Americans clamored for manuals, including manuals with v-6’s, that’s what would be produced and sold…

Companies exist to build and sell what people will buy, not the other way around

Wrong, enthusiasts want manuals.the car companies don't make them available.
CT4-V Blackwing / CT5-V Blackwing Manual Take Rate: Nearly 50%

The car companies are driving the market, who do you think drove soccer moms out of fuel efficient cars into minivans , then from mini vans into giant gas guzzling SUVs they couldn't handle, size or weight. Now they are shoving EVs on us because the soccer moms with all their unnecessary driving raised the planets temp .00005 degrees..Plus dealers funnel people into the cars they want to sell. the dealers are also to blame for option grouped into packages instead of ala carte.
Ford stopped listening to the customer decades ago.
You are obviously not a car enthusiast.
To you cars are an appliance. You want them all the same because you think it will be cheaper for you to buy one.You don't believe in individualism.

I’m glad I go my OBX with the 2.7. Mine is my daily driver, so the extra power helps move through the traffic. I have not driven a 2.3, so I’m not sure how big the difference it made.

Perhaps with the new Ranger now getting the 2.7 Ford just allocated more to them and I'd agree, probably wasn't a high take rate on the OBX.
Honestly with the exception of some sports car like the Miata, BMW M series and such the manual transmission has fallen to the wayside in the US. I think I saw the take rate on the Bronco was 15%. I drove a manual transmission exclusly from 1979 to 2007 and then had at least one manual transmission car until 2021. Back in the day they were faster with better MPG but that just isn't the case anymore automatics will deliver better MPG without any loss of power. Just don't need to sit in stop and go traffic with my foot on the clutch plus when offroad it's one less thing to thing about. I get the feeling of wanting to feel as one with a vehicle, if you want a manual go it...while you still can. I think the Bronco and the Mustang are the only vehicles from Ford with a manual.

The car makers like to claim higher mileage with auto but I've never found that to be true.
Plus the dealers push buyers toward the more expensive auto.and people simply aren't trained to drive manuals anymore.

MPG is very much a function of driver behavior, so I can imagine a person getting better mileage with a manual. In general, however, as inattentively people drive, an automatic probably gets better results (IMO).

Dealers and automakers sell what people want. If people want an automatic, that’s what they will build… In Europe, a significant number still want manuals, and that’s what they get. Supply and Demand

Wrong again.
Through out the 80s a good friend was the GM at a Ford dealer, I saw this first hand.
My brothers bro in law works at a Ford dealer currently.
He said dealers sell the most expensive car they can. They push options hard. They don't want to sell manuals at all. They push autos even on Mustangs.
They stock loaded up cars they want to sell, they discourage ordered cars.
The dealers drive the market in the direction they want. The dealers do not represent what the customers want.

To get my manual transmission Focus, I hate to fight with the dealer to order it and they wanted 25% down.
If it looks like a duck....don't tell me what I've witnessed first hand is not true.

By funny happenstance, the salesman that sold me my `24 Black Diamond, asked me if I was sure that I was going to pick it up, because it had to be ordered, being a manual transmission. I`m thinking that the Ford Dealer didn`t want to be stuck with a vehicle that would (supposedly) be a hard sell if I backed out of it. I told him not to worry about that, I ordered a Bronco specifically because it could be ordered with the manual transmission. With that being said, they worked with me on discounts (3K) and financing and got me in my Bronco on the same day that it was delivered to the dealership. They never steered me to an automatic, though there was at least ten on the lot. Funny thing is, in the four years that this particular dealership has been selling Broncos, the salesman told me that mine and one other are the only two 7spds that have been sold, both Eruption Green Metallic.

My dealership said my 22 Black Diamond is the only manual that was purchased in South Dakota that they knew of. Love driving a manual. One reason I got the Bronco.

Fear of being "stuck" with it was the reason for them asking for such a big deposit, they told me so, But when it came in the salesman who finally finished the deal ( took months to get it done) said it was a wonderful car and why didn't they get more of them. When I went to pick it up a couple were looking at it and waned to buy it. But one of the brain dead salesmen said "I didn't know they put a 5 speed in that ?how did you get that?"

The first salesman hounded me to buy an automatic and hit me with every false manual claim, like "you'll burn out the clutch in the winter, to you won't know what gear to be in,, to you'll hurt your knees pushing the clutch" every insult in the book.
He never finished the deal, left the dealer and never said anything to me, they are scum.Last I knew he was going to check the pipeline and see if there was one available. There are no decent Ford dealers left in CT.
