I have a 2022 2DR Balck Diamond 2.3L MT with the factory installed tow package. I just recently found out that package does not include the trailer brake controller. My trailer is a 4 pin connector with no brakes. The right turn signal works OK, the left turn signal works OK. When the headlights are turned on, I get a trailer wiring fault, and the trailer left turn light go out. I spent days messing with the trailer wiring and could not find anything wrong. The trailer works fine with my Dodge pickup. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had similar issues with the 4 prong plug. I get a trailer fault after I tow it for a mile or two. If I take a 7 pin adapter and plug the same trailer into the seven pin plug on the truck it works fine. I haven't had time to look into the issue, but it sounds like this could be a truck wiring issue. You are not alone with this problem. The other thing I have noticed when you use the 4 prong plug on the truck, the cover puts a lot of pressure on the trailer 4 prong plug and wire. Not sure if this causes a short or issue with the onboard computer.

These are the nickel and dime concerns I've always had owning a truck with all the onboard computers and electronics. Like Microsoft windows doesn't take much for them to need a reboot. My 2¢.

If this has to go to a dealer make sure you take your trailer in so they get the real picture and not let them run a quick computer check. I guess we are at 4¢ now. :0)
