Wow, consumer reports did not like the bronco at all. Only a 48. But what do they know? I never did put much stock in their reviews because I think there’s too subjective. Now I know they are.

48...for what? Reliability? Comfort? Amenities? How did other vehicles in the offroading sector fare?

Why would you care either way? You buy something based on what you are looking for, not what someone else tells you. For me CR is a good starting point to see how they mark an item. Do your own homework and and make your decision. Stuff in print on average is only 50% accurate.

CR is not an authority on anything technical. The are good for toasters and washing machines. Not cars, cameras, stereo equipment etc. They shot themselves in the foot a long time ago.

If you judge the Bronco as an on-road daily driver, then that’s probably about right.

I would never buy one unless I was planning to take it off road or routinely drove on rutted out dirt roads.

Thankfully, I do both.

But in terms of functioning as a vehicle that gets you from point A to point B in comfort, delivering handling and performance, and fit and finish…

Well, it’s a lot better than a Jeep.

LOL

They’re actually pretty accurate when it comes to identifying vehicles that deliver good value and reliability for the money for folks that aren’t willing to look past flaws because they are enthusiasts.

The Bronco Sport scored a 62 AND a CR recommendation…

CR is not looking at off-road ability… Full sized Bronco downgraded for braking(?), fuel economy, and wind noise… Still scored higher than all but the most luxurious Jeep model, and well above the Wrangler… Interesting ratings but they‘re stuffing all kinds of different vehicles into the “SUV” category…

So we beat Jeep? Well, that's all that really counts, right? We and Jeep are playing tennis. All the others are playing badminton.

Well, wind noise is a lot worse then my 09 JK & 04 TJ. No window frames was a big mistake. Most folks are using these trucks as daily drives, not off road. Oh well, ya do your research, know what you're buying and move on.

If you ever read any of my posts you would know I don't overlook flaws. But CR doesn't understand cars, they have one set of criteria for every category.

I just thought I’d mention it. I would’ve bought it even if it was a 10 because that’s what I wanted. Like I said their reviews are very subjective. I’m quite sure they did not count in all the neat off-road capabilities of the bronco.
