What Is The Max Amp Draw The OEM Front And Rear Fog Light Circuits Will Support?

As the title states, I'm interested in what amp load the OEM circuits will support. From what I gather there are no fuses for these circuits?

To be clear I am asking about the fog light circuits controlled by the headlight switch.

Does anyone know the rated watt output of the stock Ford front fog lights and the euro spec single rear light?

I want to control my ditch lights (40W for the pair) and front fog lights (48W for the pair) with the Euro-spec (front and rear fogs) headlight switch. One pair controlled by front switch and other by the rear switch.

Wanting to know when it's safer to just use the headlight switch to activate an add on relay to provide power to aftermarket lights?

No electrician here, so can't answer your questions. Perhaps the attached Bronco fog light shop manual's wiring diagram will help.

Thanks for the info but it doesn't help with the question I asked,

I attacked my question from a different direction

It seems the stock (non LED) fog lights take H10 halogen bulbs. Which are rated at 42 watts a piece.

So the circuit should be capable of handling at least an 84 watt (or a roughly 7 amp) draw.

Here're the front fogs we've run couple years.

There was a post by @Mal from 2024 regarding the installation of the Euro spec headlight panel for the front and rear fog and trailing light. Let me see if I can find it for you. I remember it was very in-depth.

I found the thread and I couldn’t attach it to this one but it should pop up on the new posts listing.

Thanks for the info. I already have checked out that thread but it didn't give the info I asked about

Hey @Steve_In_29 - so I never put a meter on those or anything, but I tried to be cautious. I have since reworked the front a bit and now have the newer version of the KC slimlight up front. They have a low and a high rating, and I have the low setting on my fog light switch. They are rated at 2.31 amps each, so just a little under five amps total on the circuit with no problems.

The back remains the same- still on the old flex singles, and they draw like an amp a piece. I am preparing to rework this since I tore a bit of the bumper off and fouled up the lamps descending a ledge. I think around 5 amps is probably safe on this circuit too. I have one of these export fog lamps somewhere in my garage, and its nothing special- just a low efficiency white lamp in red plastic. I never put it in anything since the bumper shell with the right cutout was like $800.
