Not sure if there is another Thread on this if there is definitely point me in the correct direction. I would like to know what is the best product for UV protectant for the hardtop for that material other then the generic Armour-all you can get at AutoZone and such. Just curious to see what people have been using and their thoughts. Thanks!

I haven't put anything on mine except what the touchless carwash puts on all cars. I think I remember something about not waxing it, but other than that I don't have a clue.

I've been using 303 Automotive Protectant after it was recommended to me by my neighbor.

I personally know next to nothing about automotive detailing, but my neighbor is obsessive when it comes to that type of stuff (particularly when it comes to his boat). So if you too want to trust my retired 70 year old neighbor who spends an obscene amount of time taking care of his boat, the 303 stuff comes highly recommended.

Second this opinion! I have been using the 303 Aerospace protectant for years on a boat I bought new in 1997 - like suscreen for anything vinyl and plastic. I believe the auto version (black label) is the same stuff as the marine version (white bottle). So whichever is cheaper where you buy it... Good on dashboards, MIC top, bumper covers, windshield trip (around the wipers), etc.

I use 303 as well. It was recommended when I was reading about Airstreams. It just came up on the Fender cleaning thread. I will be putting it on my black fenders. No hard top here so just the fenders and perhaps some other plastic like the tie down hooks on the hooks and the door handles.

303 for preventing fade.

If it's already faded, you need something else.

@RagnarKon - What did your knowledgeable boating neighbor suggest for a UV protectant for the MGV seats?

Thanks for any advice.

Hey all,
The best product I have found is Cerakote. I have done all of the outside plastic trim on my Bronco and it is a tough, tough protectant. It is easily applied on a clean surface, and creates a real protective bond, that lasts and lasts. I have also used it on our ridiculously easy to scratch black panels in our cargo areas, and it does an amazing job of not only helping to disguse existing scratches, but does help to prevent adding more scratches. I would highly suggest you check it out...

Will do!

I'm pretty sure he uses 303 Aerospace Protectant. BUT... I'll ask him when he gets back—he is currently out enjoying his boat for the holiday weekend. 😉

I will say that I've been using Adam's Polishes Leather Conditioner, and thus far it's been great—but I'll fully admit I'm not a guru when it comes to this stuff. I just had it left over from my wife's Ford Focus Titanium (which had leather seats) that got crushed by a particularly suicidal oak tree.

Thanks.

I was looking at the 303 Leather 3-in-1 Complete Care for the MGV seats. Mainly because it’s 303 and allegedly a matte finish. I don’t want the seats to end up too shiny or slippery, because they come as more of a matte texture.

I take it you’re not finding the Adams to be shiny/slippery?

When you first apply it, it allows for a little more slide, but I would definitely not consider it to be slippery. It leaves more of a satin texture, but it turns matte within a few days. The only odd part is they scented the spray to have a leather smell... which is strange since... well... I don't have leather seats. It's nothing over the top and it goes away within a day or so.

I don't know if I'll use it long-term. Mostly using it because I had some left over, Adams advertises that it works on vinyl (definitely seems to), and it has some UV protection built into it. Once I use up the bottle I likely will switch to a different product.

I really like Adam's products... BUT they put various scents in all of their stuff. Not a big deal for the exterior, but for interior stuff the smell tends to linger a few days and it bothers me a little bit. Granted none of their scents have really bothered me too much... but in general not a fragrance person. Those Black Ice Little Trees in particular are horrific. If you ever decide that you hate me... carry around one of those Black Ice Little Trees and the smell of that thing will guarantee that I stay at least 50 yards away. If I'm in a car with one of those things I'm dizzy, with a headache, and on the verge of vomiting within 5 minutes of exposure. 😨

Neighbor returned from his month-long boating trip (must be nice to be retired).

303 Aerospace Protectant is his go-to "universal" protect for just about everything on the boat. He did tell me not spray it on anything transparent as it'll discolor.

He also suggested a 3M Marine Cleaner/Conditioner/Protector, but said that it's hard to find these days.
