Can anyone explain why there is two different parking brake on/off levers? One is a 21, one is a 23.

The bottom photo is from the 2021 (as it matches mine)

My guess is some people open the hood instead of setting the parking brake! SMH

The 2023 redesign ensures this mistake will not occur…

One of the most common failures was that brake switch. People would yank on it hard--either because they thought it was the hood latch, or because they thought it was a mechanical lever like the older Ford products. So they redesigned it to hopefully prevent people from yanking on it and breaking it.

Fun fact: The old Broncos had a mechanical parking break release in nearly the exact same spot as that switch.

Hey are you familiar if Ford done away with Start/Stop on the 23s to save a chip? I noticed mine as I drove mine home last night, it never cut off, and the button was highlighted the whole time, I didn't mess with it... I'm okay if it's stuck in the off position...🤣😅

Also, the new 23 configuration on the parking brake is weird, its not a normal direction to pull.... but also is trying to use a clutch in an automatic, after having the 7sp for 6k miles.... I have ran my left foot thru the firewall about 5 times now on this auto... 🤷‍♂️🤣

I haven't heard anything in regards to start/stop on the Bronco... but also that's not something I really care about. I know many folks hate start/stop and immediately try to find ways to disable it, but that feature doesn't bug me at all.

And yeah... been there done that with the clutch. I drive my wife's Escape to lunch today so I could fill up the tank for her on the way back, and it felt like I threw my left knee out trying to smash my foot into an imaginary clutch pedal.

That is exactly what my salesman told me. Not sure when they changed it. In My 8/8/2022 blend date it is the same as the 2021.

Certain GOAT modes (I know Sport does this) will disable the Auto Start/Stop. If yours had the feather disabled at the factory, your window sticker would have shown a $50 credit i would assume. The F150's are disabled at the factory..here's an example of the window sticker credit:

My gut tells me… most cars up till now… you would pull a lever to “release” the parking brake…

On the Bronco, you pull the lever to “engage and or activate” the parking brake… (the exact opposite from the traditional parking brake).

So by flipping the lever upside down it has a different “feel”…. And, therefore you would be less inclined to confuse “releasing vs activating” the parking brake…

I hope this makes sense😁!

Except air brakes. I dunno, parking brakes used to be pretty standard, only so many ways to pull a cable tight with a lever (foot or hand). Now with electric parking brakes getting more mainstream, different engineers come up with different ways to push a button. My other vehicles with electric brakes just have a push on / push off button.

This makes sense to me, can’t tell you how many times I have engaged the parking brake on startup instead of releasing it.

I never manually release the parking brake. As soon as you select a gear and press the throttle, the parking brake automatically disengages.

Mine seems to be hit and miss on the automatic release, maybe it’s a quirk of the 7spd
