I haven't understood why, but many in the Jeep world like to remove the spare and put a blank on. After all, most spend a ton of money on off-road recovery and safety gear and then don't have a spare. Who plans on removing their spare?

I would if I could ...
A-stow it on the Top
&
B-Hang a vertical ski/:Board rack on the swing gate bracket.
But just for one or two weeks during my trips.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it has a lot to do with saving $$$ on that fifth wheel and tire when upgrading. Me personally, I am keeping the spare on board. In the sea of donut spare tires that come with modern cars(if they have a spare at all), I will look down upon the peasants of this world with that big round badge of rubber and steel high upon my tailgate, “Look world, I have the embodiment of opulence!”
