Delivery time variables based on equipment and options?

I'm new to BN, so first off thank you for having me. I had an 88 Bricknose FSB that I loved, until I lost my job and had to sell a long while ago. I now (conveniently enough) work at the same dealership I placed my Black Diamond order for. I've heard mumblings by the online order specialists that certain packages, regardless of reservation number, will not roll out of the factories until 22. This makes sense due to pandemic-related supply issues. I just finished up my Ford certifications and have read through much of the FSB order materials for dealers, but nothing mentions a for-sure prioritization formula. I overheard that any Sasquatch packages won't be delivered until MY22, but of course it's speculation at this point. Can anyone else provide educated guesses as to what packages and trim levels will be delivered first? I hate to assume, but I also think the 2-doors will make it out of the factory before the 4d's will.

Good to have you. Only thing I've heard is that the mansquatch will be a MY22, some of the tops will be late availability. Nothing else on order queue...

Welcome! It will be great to have your insights as part of our community!
At this point much is speculation. It is easy to make assumptions based on Ford behavior/actions. Personally, I would like to see at least one Velocity Blue Bronco. What’s up with that? Perhaps nothing!

Welcome aboard! As mentioned, ManSquatch and some of the tops we know are late availability and will push delivery into MY22. However, some optional equipment could very well delay builds as well. Hard to say, especially with vendor issues driven by COVID.

In the meantime, we have a good group here at BN and plenty to talk about while we all wait. Glad to have you join the group! (y)

In the Q&A video with BN, Esteban (Bronco brand manager from Ford) mentioned there could be supply constraints depending on the take rate of certain options. The two he specifically mentioned were Sasquatch and the 2.7l engine. I don’t think he was implying either would necessarily be late, but they might only be able to make a limited number due to supply constraints.

as others have mentioned Sasquatch + manual transmission is a 2022 option. Black Modular and dual tops are late availability, but as far as I know not fully delayed until 2022.

I’m pretty sure nobody has any definitive information about what trims, bodies, or packages will be made first. I doubt even Ford’s manufacturing planners do either. Without orders in the system, they don’t know how to most efficiently plan production.

Ford has been building cars for 117 years, they know how to get them out the door. They introduce the Ranger, built them and sold them without problems. They have the same options.

Welcome to the Nation @Broncadonk MKG . It is a safe assumption that since ford is going to build in batches that the FE would be first then I think it will either be Badlands or Wildtrack next followed by OBX but that is all speculation. With the sports there were lots of reviews done on Dealer loner Badlands Sports before the FEs were delivered so it all a guess at this point.

It's a little different, the Ranger wasn't a new model roll out, they just started selling an existing vehicle in the US. I was in Fiji a couple years ago, there were Rangers and diesel Huluxes all over the place. This was before they even talked about re-releasing the Ranger, so there wasn't much new to do.

He said there were supplier constraints for options which is normal. It doesn't mean they are late. The suppliers for parts are tooled up to produce a certain rate and flow of parts based on expected long term demand. Almost everything in modern manufacturing is just in time because no one wants to pay for parts inventory sitting around. For example, with Sasquatch package, the suppliers can only deliver the parts to make so many Sasquatch vehicles each month. There is sometimes flexibility where a supplier can do overtime shifts or extra shifts to pump out a few more for a bump in demand. The assembly plant can't just produce 100% Sasquatch vehicles continuously because they will run out of parts. The builds have to be scheduled based on part availability from the supplier rate and flow for each option and trim level. The whole thing is a very complicated balancing act.

The timeline isn’t actually all that different. Ranger was announced in Jan ‘18 at the Detroit auto show. B&P launched and preorders started in August ‘18 with first deliveries in January 2019, so the process from announcement to delivery was roughly a year.

The Bronco was announced Jul’20. B&P went live in late October ‘20. Orders will begin in Jan’21. First deliveries will occur in summer ‘21. The whole process should take about a year...just like the Ranger.

The Bronco is also a more complicated launch with 7 trims (vs 3) and three different engine/transmission combinations (vs 1).

In addition to launching a new vehicle, Ford is also trying to take its first steps towards a more centralized production and distribution model (similar to Tesla), rather than the old fashioned dealership model. I’d think it safe to say that Ford is struggling with this change.

And the COVID impact on manufacturing is very real. I work for a manufacturing company in a role adjacent to material procurement, and we have exceptionally explicit contract language and terms around supplier performance. That hasn’t stopped supply disruptions.

this journey is a struggle, but I think we’ll all be happy with the end result!

Won’t be batches. They will build badlands along with wildtrak and base at the same time. Lines are set up to build whatever is next in the order list. Paint colors aren’t batched either.

Love your synopsis! Maybe I can add a thought or two.

From what I can determine, two factors have figured prominently in the Bronco release. Factor one has been the pandemic. The second factor is so close we might not fully realize its impact. The effect of social media on shaping opinions. More specifically our forum, the other forum, Instagram, and Facebook. Each has opportunities to discuss Bronco issues and impact our views and opinions. They intensify the rollercoaster ride. If your goal is to purchase a Bronco, be very careful. ;)

Absolutely no doubt about it, the social media echo chamber intensifies opinions...good and bad!

The forum message board rodeo never stops.

It could be my old Tundra forums, Jeep forums, my current 4Runner forums, or these new Bronco forums. You read and explore enough you will eventually be disillusioned with any vehicle you purchase or are interested in. Based on forum posts nobody in their right mind would ever buy a Jeep !

If this has been asked I missed it.

at what point in the process will I be running my credit? At what point will I be taking out the loan? with all the delays its a nice time to build up a good down payment or nest egg for accessories.

All financing will happen when the Bronco is delivered. In some situations they might start the process when the Vehicle is in transit.
