I think a lot about of people overlook or discount the 2.3. It generates more horsepower and torque than the V8's I grew up with. If your worried about power, go test drive a ranger, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I actually bought a 2.3L Ranger while I waited for the Bronco and then changed my original order from the 6cyl to the 4cyl.
Now that I’m going to have to reorder I might get the V6 after all, but I have nothing bad to say about the power in this Ranger!

Now imagine being in control of the vehicle instead of the computer; it'd make things a lot more enjoyable

A lot of people would rather have a V8 with 250hp than a I4 with 300hp just for the sound. Just because it have more cylinders doesn't make it better.

You need to drive a modern Auto with lots of gears. Trust me I am stick guy and I am ordering a 2 door MT Base and building from there. I had a well set up Rubi which I reluctantly got an Auto. I needed something Auto for visitors and family to drive. Rocky Crawling in AZ it was far superior to a stick in slick rocky areas with lots of cliffs and drops. Auto didn't spin a tire. Low range and looked and use the slap shifter to get the perfect gear. With 10 it will be even easier. With all the gears no need to be shifting in an out of low range all day. Same Rubi's with sticks were spinning tires and sliding around. One over heated his clutch. These were very technical trails and not for the faint of heart. My passenger bailed a few times and opted to walk. From that day forward I had no issue wheeling the auto and wishing a had a stick-except for maybe the street. I had Audi that had a fantastic Auto and Jag E-Type now that the Auto is smooth fast and the paddle shifting is far faster and smoother than any stick will ever be. Do I still like a stick. Yes in a true drivers car I still want a manual. But the Auto's have come a long way. I would go for the bigger motor and Auto but I like a stick the street and in the mountains-snow.
I need?

Why would I buy a tranny I don't like? I didn't buy a 150 because of the pos tranny. I've been driving offroad for many years and a manual transmission never left me stranded in the woods while autos have.

Auto's are like watching let's plays instead of getting the damn game yourself, or porn instead of actually having sex.

I work in Manhattan, and gotten stuck in what you expect NYC Traffic to be in all 5 boroughs. Sure it sucks in traffic, but traffic isn't gonna last forever, plus there's something badass about driving Stick in the City
Manual tranny won't have auto problems in the woods

Trans cooler lines get taken out by tree branches
trans over heats,slips
heat from tranny pumped into engine
can't shift from 5th to 2nd directly and vice versa
can't pop start auto
auto shift linkage get knocked off by sticks
if you do break a cooler line the trans shifts into neutral and yur done.
autos can get locked into reverse from pressure on a steep hill if you miss reverse and hit park. We got stuck on a steep hill when the driver went to shift into reverse and hit park, we had to get another 4x4 to pull on it from the top so the shifter would move.

more reasons to stick with stick. that and not too many people can drive it anymore
