I have a 1st Edition two-door Bronco in lightning blue and can't tell everyone here enough about how I'm head-over-heels with this ride. I've had to tweak
a couple things on it so far, the first being a cover for the spare tire and the second being the wheels.
I am more of a traditionalist and have never warmed up to the black wheels found on so many vehicles today to include my Bronco. A couple weeks ago I went on the hunt for a new set of wheels and, while I found a couple that I liked, the set I ordered arrived a few days later with what were suppose to be gray with a black outer ring but appeared much more black than gray. I passed on the wheels and decided my best option would be to have my outer rings powder coated with a color that was much more to my liking. I decided that a color that was close to the color of the hard top would work best for my tastes so off I went to the local powder coat specialist in Dallas in search of a color. Once there, and after looking at many various colors in silver, gray, and everything in between, I settled on a gunmetal gray color that matched the top quite well.
Today I made it down to Dallas and picked up the five trim rings after being powder coated. As it turned out, I was very happy with the color and the finished product. The twelve bolts used to fasten each ring to the wheel were kept black. After arriving home, the rings were re-installed with a little lock tite. All went well and the color turned out, at least for me, much better than the solid black wheels. Below is a photo of the finished product. Enjoy and thanks for taking the time to stop by and check out this post.
