I would love to have the option to have an integrated CB in the radio. I have a couple of portable CBs I carry that are good for about 5 miles (needs a longer antenna. They are like walkie-talkies. Obviously I can't use them on the fly. I also don't want to mount a clunky CB up front (where?).

I'd guess you'll never see that happen as CB's are really a thing of the past due to FRS and GMRS

Yeah, but those radios don't get the cool 102" whip antenna

Mount it on the bracket on top of the dash.

While CB has been a tried and true communocations option I feel like most people are now moving toward VHF & UHF radios. I have a few handheld Motorolas that I use for skiing, hiking & off-roading and they are durable, lightweight, portable & work great.

VHF/UHF requires you to have an FCA license to operate on a designated frequency or under a company that holds the license for that frequency. Are you talking the FRS channels?

FRS is fine for recreational use but range is more limited.

I wouldn't mount a CB on the dash.

I haven't heard of using UHF or VHF before for general communications between "citizens". That's why Citizens Band (CB) is still around. Very little knowledge is required to use a CB radio and anyone can use it. No licences, certificates, etc. Decent XMIT/RCVE range on line of sight. I don't think there is another option as viable and accessible to the public. The trail rides I have been on and all that I have watched on video seem to be using CB radios to maintain contact with each other. So, if out on a trail and no cell service, I think CB radio is the goto communications tool uniquely well suited to off-road communication and should be offered in the Bronco infotainment center.

Your prerogative, lots of trucks have them mounted on the dash.

FRS is much more common and then GMRS is gaining lots of ground. FRS is available to anyone and can get FRS radios almost anywhere now, WalMart, Target, etc. GMRS does require a license (like $70) and there is also a lot of options to equipment there and the range is greater.

and you are correct the VHF/UHF frequencies are NOT a citizen use band

Maybe you know of smaller CB radios. I’ve never seen one mounted on a dash before.

I Googled "CB mounted on a dash" and a few examples came up...like this F-150...I don't see why anyone would want to do this.

Google roof mounted CBs :ROFLMAO:

Go look at CB options on Amazon. Not sure where it can be mounted

Thats the most common place to mount a CB unless you have a custom-built console.

Most put these wither under the seat or in the glovebox. I'll have a GMRS unit that is similar and will be built into the glove box and a mic connection ran probably under the dash so when its not needed the mic can be disconnected

GARMIN in Reach. Satellite GPS Navigation, preloaded topographic maps compatible.

Have not used one yet but the guys I work with say they are great.

Not as nimble as the CB to use, but 100 hour battery life.

A satellite phone is a good option, kinda spendy.
