Per Jim Farley:

The idea for #BroncoRaptor was an Ultra4 racing-inspired Bronco built for high speed off-roading & extreme rock crawling. The target was 400 horsepower. Now it's official: 418hp + 440lbs-ft of torque! Congrats to the
@FordPerformance
team for taking #BuiltWild to a new level!

Too bad it also comes in at 15/16 MPG. And here I bitch and moan about getting 17.5 MPG :mad:

And we couldn't have a V8 why? :unsure:

Anyways, looks like a beast. My buddy from B6G is in line to get a Raptor. I'm happy for him!

Dollar bills probably. 2.7L and 3.0L are effectively the same engine. Dramatically reduces engineering costs and time it takes to get the vehicle to market.

Plus you could argue it wasn’t necessary since the 3.0L can pull similar performance numbers to the Coyote V8. BUT… people would have gone bananas if it had a V8… well… at least up until they saw the price.

I’d be pretty happy with that! Only a little bit less horsepower and torque than a 6.2 Chevy.

Hard points are a little bit different for the suspension so I don’t think it would be an easy swap. Would probably be a lot easier to just do a long travel kit. Engine same deal, would probably be easier to tune the current engine and if something goes wrong swap in a new one lol.

Can't blame me for asking, although a supercharged cyclone is more appealing

Honestly… I’m surprised they can get that much more horsepower out of the 3.0L compared to the 2.7L. Almost 100 more horsepower… impressive.

Makes me wonder if they tuned the 2.7L on the conservative side.
