Really itching to hear anything from Ford about my Badlands order. I selected the options with my dealer so we could get it delivered faster. He convinced me to go with the soft top, since hard tops have been seeing really long delays. Now, I have an order with the top that I don't really want, and still no build date. I paid the $500 deposit on August 27th. From reading about others on this forum, many have been waiting much longer than me. That's really depressing. Why do I have to go on a forum to figure this out? When do you think we will get some kind of an update?

I put a grand down last January after putting $100 deposit down the July prior. Buckle up, you’re gonna be waiting a while.

The majority of guys that I’ve seen who have recently taken delivery and have posted their reservation dates, seem to be in the range of July/Aug 2020 reservations and January 2021 conversion to orders. There have been multiple factors that have impacted delivery. The most notable are the hard top issues and chip shortages. The roof issues have been resolved. Delivered vehicles with hard tops will have theirs replaced first, followed by Broncos that have been built and are sitting on the lot waiting for new tops. After that, presumably the roof issue will no longer be a factor. Barring any further bad news on the new hard tops, I’d say change your order to be what you want. Ordering is closed for MY 2021 and you will have an opportunity to change your order, including any new 2022 options you may want, in the coming weeks. I haven’t seen a firm date on that. Ford (corporate) has not communicated one thing to me so far. Expecting them to do anything that resembles common sense is an exercise in futility. However, I do have a pretty responsive Bronco Specialist at my dealer who sends our timely updates.

Does anyone know, despite the absurd waiting, whether those of us who ordered last January (with an earlier reservation) have to do anything further than just waiting? Do we have to "reorder?" It seems if I have paper work and have given deposits, those should be binding.

Like many potential owners, I was concerned regarding constrained commodities. Like yourself, I tailored my order in an effort to receive a MY21 Bronco. What my dealer did not share was his allocation numbers and where I ranked with my timestamp against his other unscheduled orders.
Eventually, I was able to obtain the information I needed and discovered my morning of 7/14 reservation was not timely enough to obtain a MY21 Bronco when ranked against his other orders.
I have discovered the allocation quota is an important factor and that information is carefully kept secret by many dealers.
At this point I am hoping for a MY22 Bronco and have reversed my order back to my preferred 2 door.

I had seen the change on your build at the bottom of one of your posts the other day and was gonna ask you about it @BuzzyBud. I am actually happy for you to go back to what you really wanted. You are getting a spectacular rig sir! I figured that something must have come to light for you to switch back.

Thank you! If all goes well, this is what my future MY22 Badlands will resemble.

I will admit to being disappointed when it became clear my efforts to secure a MY21 Bronco would turn out to be unsuccessful. As you know I enjoy adding content to our BN community. Looking ahead, I need a Bronco to maintain that effort. At this point, I project my Bronco may not arrive for 6 more months. During that time, my efforts may shift to other projects and will hopefully circle back.

VB looks so good on the Bronco! Sorry to hear @BuzzyBud that the 21 isn't going to happen, but am thinking you'll be happier with the 2dr. I am having color decisions to make again, and it's the worst part of the whole ordering process for me. Not having RR as an option for 22 was disappointing.

You can change your order to anything you want up till you get a vin and scheduled for a build date.

Hopefully you have a signed price guarantee in writing.

Based upon a post by Granger Ford yesterday on the other forum, all current orders in the system for a 2021 will need to be reordered by the dealer for a 2022 MY. The existing order does not roll over to the 2022 MY. So at this point you just wait to see if you get the lucky ticket for 21MY or will be pushed to 22MY and then reorder.

This is the big one for me:

What about price protection? - If you have an order now your order will be price protected for 2022 as well.

You only have to reorder if you fall into the category getting a 2022. The last letter from Ford spelled that out, but basically if you are getting a hard top, you’re getting a 2022

Knows the cheat code.

I actually spoke with a representative on the Bronco Team at Ford last week. She informed me that the 2022 production will begin in October this year. No specific date just October. I was concerned that the two door base with the 2.7 engine and with the Rapid Red color I ordered would not be built as such because Rapid Red is being dropped for 2022 model year. She informed me that Ford would still honor the color for existing 2021 orders but not going forward with new orders for the 2022 model year. By the way my reservation was made the third day of opening in 2020 and order date of March 16, 2021. No build date issued as of yet so I am looking at a 2022 model. We shall see.
