Big update was sent out to dealers today. Most of what the update contained has already been leaked through various sources online. But it's official now.

Highlights:
  • Order banks opening Sept 12th rather than Aug 15th
  • Order guide expected August 29th
  • No new retail orders will be accepted upon the opening of the order banks. Existing carryover orders only.
  • Existing orders that are carried over will require COVP.
    • COVP requires dealers scan your driver's license and submit a copy along with your order to Ford. If approved by Ford, your order will be prioritized ahead of other orders. This is the same process currently used for Ford Maverick orders.
  • All existing reservations that have not been converted to an order will be required to place a 2023 order. This signifies that that Ford will not be continuing the reservation system into 2024 and beyond.

2023 MODEL YEAR CHANGEOVER AND ORDER BANK OPENING

2023 Model Year Changeover is happening soon. Due to shifts in 2022MY production schedule, the previously communicted date of August 15th for the 2023 MYCO and order bank opening hs been adjusted to September 12th.

In order to continue prioritizing early order holders, we will not be taking new retail orders when the 2023 order bank opens. Prospective customers may still be able to purchase a Bronco from dealer stock orders, which we anticipate will be available in limited quantities on lower demand trims and options. We will continue to monitor the order bank status throughout the process and will provide an update on the retail order bank opening in Q4.

All remaining unscheduled 2022MY orders will be converted to 2023MY and will require verification via the Customer Order Verification Program (COVP). Unconverted reservations will be required to be converted to orders and will also require verification.

More details on COVP, 23MY Content, and upcoming Customer Communications will be forthcoming in the Dealer MYCO Playbook to be issued September 7th.

KEY DATES
  • Aug 25 - Final 22MY Orders due
  • Aug 29 - 23MY Order Guide published
  • Sept 1-11 - WBDO closed for order conversion
  • Sept 7 - 23MY MYCO Playbook published to field/dealers
  • Sept 12 - 23MY MYCO non-retail order bank opens & COVP begins
  • End of Sept - 23MY scheduling begins
  • Nov 14th - COVP ends

Good that the Order Guide will be available at the end of this month. That will give all of us who want to order a 23 plenty of time to review the options. It appears that the earliest that they will accept retail orders will be after 11/4. Hopefully the B&P will be ready then too.

Does anyone have information on what will be required for COVP? Since placing my order, I got married and my last name is not the same as my order's. I worry about how that will affect my COVP process and want to prepare now to ensure I have everything in order versus waiting until the last minute. I will be reaching out to my dealer tomorrow, who is aware, but curious if anyone else has gone through this or has insight. TIA!

Good to finally see it in writing. I guess that means that the 11th and say the 25th then will be the last hurrah for scheduling a MY 22.

I think they may not be able change your name on the order (if they could that would defeat the purpose of the COVP process). My understanding is there is some kind of an appeal, but I like to think that you arent the first person FoMoCo has had to address this issue with.

I don’t care if they can’t change my name on my order. It all comes down to how I can title it, which would need to be in my legal name. I’m sure it’s not the first time either, so there has to be something in place to address things like this.

The dealer needs to submit the following to Ford:
  • Signed WBDO order sheet that lists the order number, customer name, and order date
  • Scanned copy of the customers driver's license, which needs to match the name/address on the order.
Definitely have the conversation with your dealer about the name change. There is an override/exception process, but from what I understand it’s a pain to get through, so if you can handle it before you submit your 2023 order may save you a lot of headache.

It definitely feels like Ford is attempting to weed out the abandoned orders to better prioritize them and perhaps help reduce the orders that are left sitting on dealer lots for super high ADM (extra $25k?) vs those going to actual order holders who are waiting on them.

I would think a copy of your marriage license and your new DL would suffice as proof of the legal name change.

I was told that you need to change your name on your ford account. Then it’ll update. I did it today.

Yeah if the name/address is correct on the backdoor link you're good to go.

Just make sure you re-verify the details when you go to place your order for 2023MY in case the dealer makes a typo.
